A 9-year-old boy in California used his allowance money to pay off school lunch debts for his entire third-grade class, KGO-TV/ABC7 News reported.
When Ryan Kirkpatrick, a student at West Park Elementary School, learned that some kids cannot afford lunch at school and have to take on debt, he wanted to make a difference, according to his mom, Kylie Kirkpatrick.
Ryan asked his mom to find out how much his peers at his own school owed for lunches, and his mom discovered it was about $74.50. The price of school lunches range from 30 cents to $3.25 each.
“What do you want to do?” Kirkpatrick asked her son, according to KGO-TV/ABC7 News. “He said, 'I guess I can pay for it.' I said, 'are you sure?' And he said, 'yes.' "
Ryan would usually use his allowance money to buy sports gear, like autographed baseballs, but he gave it to the school anonymously.
“I want them just to realize people actually think about them instead of just telling them what they did because you're just bragging about stuff,” Ryan said. “I want them to feel happy that someone cares about them."
Students with negative accounts are still given hot meals at lunchtime at the school, according to ABC News.
It would have been nicer of him to knock on doors and tell the parents to put away the smokes, booze, drugs and bling money and feed their kids.

Um, no, he did not give it anonymously.
First, he told his mom, who is obviously uncaring about her son’s wishes. Why do I say that? Because either he told did not tell her it was to be kept quiet or she disregarded her son’s wish to have it kept quiet.
Second, and most importantly, he spoke up about it.
So he wanted credit for something he did and thus he did not do it with the intention of doing it without the attention it got.
Look, if he used his normal allowance for that it’s fine.
The point of conflict is that it wasn’t done to and EXPECTED to remain done in a quiet manner.
How do I know that? He could have NOT SAID ANYTHING to anyone; even his loud mouthed bragging mother.
This child has all the makings of a Libertarian-turned-Democrat. Check him out in about 25 years....

Here, they get a lunchmeat sandwich, chips, fresh piece of fruit and a milk and sometimes a cookie. Funny how that's the same they pack for sack lunches on field trips and charge the kids' accounts the same as a hot lunch. Mind boggling.

I realize it is ‘apples to oranges’ BUT not really, heard today that the 9/11 emergency fund for first responders is going broke and ‘people’ are crying for more donations etc etc.

Democrat parents would NEVER offer to pay for anyone else with an act of charity. Democrat parents would have told him to let the government pick up the tab, or just stiff the school.
On one hand, this IS private giving, which we encourage, rather than a government hand-out. OTOH, the kids should be sent home and not be allowed to return to school until they’re fed. I don’t agree with schools feeding kids.
