I like to take a different perspective on things as I think you learn different things from different approaches. This goes chronologically through a range of artists, so you can see what people were painting around the same time. Starts earlier than Impressionist Period and goes a bit later. Two sections - first On View; second Not On View. Artists listed at the end in their order of appearance in the video. Trevor Pinnock's Bach's Goldberg Variations - 7, 11 and 22.
PING to MFA Impressionism
Bach - I will crawl over broken glass to hear Bach!
Mairdie come home!
Two of my favorite things! Bach and Impresionism!
I’m one minute in and so many paintings are completely new to me. A few old favorites. A couple I don’t like, but I still like being introduced to them. (Can’t please everybody with every painting!) Most are GREAT!!
Many, many thanks for putting this out.
Now.... back to finish watching.....
:-)

Fine collection. Thank you, mairdie, well done.
Back when I was an idiot teenager, I used to play Bach and Mozart on my boombox.
Loved it.
Brought to mind how much I loathe modern architecture, it is dehumanizing.
I used to play Bach on piano when I was teaching myself as an adolescent.
I prefer non-harpsichord Bach, truthfully. To me he stands above all the others. He is like a kaleidescope, the intricate patterns to me are beautiful and precise.
Wow, thanks! Much needed interludes in between news.
I am bumping this thread so that I can come back to it later and listen. Huge Bach fan and it’s been a while since I listened to the Goldberg Variations.
I found it difficult to “see” what paintings went with what variations.
So far I have
