nice but I am too old to be buying new jars, I recently gave away 2 dozen regular quarts. I still have plenty. That is a nice size. Sometimes a pint is not enough and a quart too much. (I read that in a fortune cookie once)

Just made for you, DIW. Savory, elaborate granita perfect as a summer dinner party starter.

Strain juice into stainless steel container; freezer an hour. Remove the pan to counter; fork/rake frozen edges, breaking up crystals. Refreeze 30 min; rake again. Not the one you requested......but this recipe is outstanding. Classic French custard-style ice cream.
From LENOTRE’S ICE CREAMS AND CANDIES, heavenly recipes by Gaston Lenotre, France’s master of desserts.

SUBLIME VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM

METHOD Heat 2 generous cups whole milk to almost steaming Add split vanilla bean (remove when custard is finished cooking). If using bean, do not add vanilla at this point. Stir in generous cup sugar to completely dissolve. Whisk 6 lge egg yolks well then temper slowly / a little hot milk slowly (about half), whisk again. Pour back into pan of hot milk. Cook on low til custard coats back of spoon STIRRING CONSTANTLY. Do not overcoat; it will curdle- then you are really in trouble. Pour into large bowl. Whisk in generous cup whipping cream. Cool; then chill completely cool before putting it into ice cream maker. Add tsp best vanilla (or remove the bean).

TASTE TEST NOW Nothing is better than ice cream, still soft, right from the maker. It is your reward. Grab a big spoon and indulge.

FINAL Serve in footed dessert glassware......blanket with fresh garden raspberries.

CHEF NOTE: Pack in small plastic containers to store.

What a lovely little garden!

Well, its a little longer than that, and thank God for what we have and can share, which we want to glorify Him. And its all tomatoes (cherry by the fence; larger behind) and Butternut squash. Back-8-17-19

Home canned tuna is an experience you wouldn’t forget. Starkest is cat food after you taste it. Smoked tuna, too. Nummers.

I miss my ‘Naked Ladies’! I failed to move them from my old 1906 farm to my ‘new’ 1900 farm, LOL!

Jung’s sells them, though. I’ll have to find a special spot for them. They grew around my well at the old farm.

Some days I REALLY miss that place - but them Beau reminds me that I’ve lived LOTS of different places through the years, and that I truly AM 100% HAPPY with where I have landed from this day forward. *HEART*

Noooooooooooo! How could they get past the fencing? Oh, I guess they CAN climb, LOL!

Don’t worry. Beau and Yakama are out killing a bunch of them in WI tonight, so they don’t migrate to CA!

P.S. So SORRY for your loss. :(
