When conditions have been right - like the year I broke my foot and didn’t get every lat thing harvested and didn’t clean up the garden at all that fall, I’ve had tomatoes re-seed themselves here in Zone 4/5.
Always amazing to me, too, as they are basically a ‘tropical’ fruit!

I've been canning like a madwoman, and will start on drying tomatoes this weekend and make a few batches of fresh pasta sauce for freezing and using as soon as the weather cools. Here's what I've got done so far, but there are also 12 more jars of Salsa added to the mix since yesterday:
MWH: That is one of my few quilting projects under the jars. I just loved the fabric so much I quilted an old towel between them for batting and just did a crazy-stitch all over it. Real Professional. Not! LOL! I've done some potholders, too.

Old towels are great for potholders and such.
Probably very good for a table runner on the cheap since it’s thin enough to keep glasses from falling over and if you use lofty batting it might shift.
I used to buy ugly old comforters for a couple bucks at the thrift store and gut them for batting.
There are no rules in quilting.
People have always used what they had for centuries.

Nice work, satisfying isn’t it? I love sitting back with my feet up just listening to the jars seal. It’s been a few years since I’ve canned that much. And some things I do every other year like pickled beets. I like that fabric. I’m more of a scrap quilter too. I started a small quilt recently, log cabin squares. It’s actually going to wind up being a baby quilt, baby on one side, scrap on the other. And sitting around are a dozen or more batik fabric pieces I picked up in Lancaster PA about 15 years ago. Yes they are that old. I fell in love with batik fabric in one store and they were selling fat 8ths! I have actually crocheted more than I have quilted. I usually crochet more in the winter. Knitting not so much as I am not too coordinated with 2 needles. When you mentioned potholders I wondered is you have ever sewn any of those microwave bowls? They are the best.

I have used old mattress protectors, just cut off the elastic, they are batted and quilted themselves.

You’ve been a busy girl!
Woo!
I need to channel that productiveness to my own household.
And I love the giant potholder.

I have a pattern. They DO look handy; I’m always grabbing hot pads to take something hot out of the micro.
A quick looks shows me that Etsy sells them for $3-$5. ;)

They are so easy to make and so handy. I gave 4 to a friend and she is always raving about them. Now she wants me to make some for her married kids. We use them almost daily especially when we are heating up soups or stews. Anything in a bowl. All you need is the cotton batting and all cotton fabric and thread. Plus they really keep your microwave clean not to mention making the hot bowl easy to move over to your armchair.... I mean dining room table :)

LOL @ your ‘dining room table.’
I just watched a tutorial on making them. I could probably do that; if it involves straight lines, I’m on it, LOL!

Is that what they call Society Garlic?
To: Grampa Dave
This year has been the best weather for us up here on the far north coast since I moved up here in 1954. Temps have been in the high 60s and low 70s like it was today
Some Elephant "Garlic" that volunteered...
