People ask "Where was God on 911?"
He was where He always is. Up on His throne in heaven observing everything and intervening where He knew it was needed.
He was causing a small accident that jammed cars up going to work at the WTC.
He was delaying trains.
He was causing a blister from a man's new shoes so he would have to stop and get a Bandaid and be late from work at the WTC.
He was making a small child sleepy and slow to prepare for school, making his mother late for work at the WTC.
He was giving a man a cold that caused him to call in sick from his position at the WTC.
He was causing small problems that caused people to change their flight plans on the four planes that crashed.
He was with His children as they stepped out of broken windows to escape the flames and plunging to their deaths.
He was with the firefighters as they bravely climbed the stairs to save as many as they could.
He was holding up the building so that many could escape and eventually turn to Him.
He was with the people who died when the towers fell.
He was with the frightened families who didn't know for hours or days if their loved ones were safe.
He was with those who prayed to Him and grieved and cried.
He was there. All you had to do was call on Him.
Always enjoy your posts, Blood of Tyrants.
Will read the responses tomorrow or much later in the evening.
Can’t do this today.
The friends I/We lost that day...it gets harder instead of easier and who knows why?
Maybe the changes in thinking as one ages makes the losses more profound and harder hitting.
Maybe the fact that those that died shouldn’t be in pictures up at parties and gatherings to remember them, but they should be there ALIVE.
Maybe the subtle changes in children that I’ve seen grow up without their dads who never quite seem to smile all the way.
And the Beautiful, majestic Towers. Those of us who had the pleasure of working in them. Of marveling at them. Of enjoying watching them from the staten island ferry on the way home as the sun set.
What a thing of beauty!!! Showing what a Republic and a capitalist yet God fearing society could build!
And we replaced them with some kind of building though I’ll be damned if I know what that HORRIFIC monstrosity is supposed to be.
It makes one want to weep. Why? Because the Twin Towers WERE majestic and they WERE beautiful, at least to me.
And they will never be beautiful again.
To add insult to injury we waited and waited for a justice that never came.
BTW, a piece of history. Only ONE MAN built a prototype of what the new towers should look like that MOST NYers agreed with.
THEY WERE EXACTLY LIKE THE OLD ONES!!!!
This was a man of vision and greatness!! A man who thought like the average NYer and didn’t want the monstrosities that are there now to darken our skies.
His idea was turned down.
But he had some relative success later in life as he became POTUS in 2016.
Good day to all.
There is not a finer group of people to share this day’s pain/memories/love of country with than all of you people here.
Never forget.
Matthew 5:45 The Lord Jesus speaking of His Father:
He makes His sun rise on people whether they are good or evil. He lets rain fall on them whether they are just or unjust.
God is Perfectly Fair. We are all born the same and bear the same responsibility:
Romans 6 23-24
For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God and can be justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Ditto. My blood boils on this day and has since the attack.
So....atheist then?
Even if the details were not His Plan, and even if His Plan is to be hands-off, it’s still His Plan.
Can’t do this today, as I knew some that were killed and know people who lost family and friends.
I'm certain the government knows exactly how many sets of 5 swarthy men abandoned their luggage and faded into the woodwork.
I'm also certain they will never tell us.
“Where was God on 911?”
I used to think the same thing about many unfortunate events. I have to believe that we as humans are not capable of having the infinite wisdom of the Lord and cannot understand His purpose for catastrophes.
He was with my stepfather when he canceled his flight to Pennsylvania (yes, the actual flight that ended driven into a field)on 9/10
“I hate to have them [the Jews] fall away from God...”
I admire and respect the Jewish people. I’ve wondered if God used Hitler just like He used Babylon to discipline the Jews. They were exiled to Babylon for punishment for worshiping other gods. When they were freed - they never did again.
In the hundreds of years prior to WWII, many (most?) Jews were so scattered, and so filled with worldly things. Perhaps God allowed, or perhaps even used Hitler? I know it seems out-of-line with our view of a loving God, but if you believe the Bible, God used Babylon to destroy Jerusulem, kill much of the population and take the rest into captivity.
But of course the Jews were able to return to Jerusulem. Both after the exile, and after the Holocaust. Or, perhaps Hitler was not an instrument of God. But God was still able to use the evils of the Holocaust for His will.
I had hope that 9-11 would be a correction as well for us. It was amazing to have a prayer vigil in the town square of my liberal city with prayers and songs shortly after 9-11. I’m guessing that it would not be considered now with the huge influx of muslims.
Some time ago I heard an interesting idea. Tragedies, loss, deaths etc. are not always about the victims but about salvation and learning to those who nurse and care for their dying loved ones, who volunteer to help in tragedies. A single event might redeem a person who learned how to turn to God.
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. - Psalm 9:17”
I once heard an ex-communist from the USSR speak and when asked how was it possible for someone like Lenin and Stalin to come to power there and to murder and starve the millions that were killed - and he just said simply:
We forgot God.
Terrible judgement is coming to the USA unless we as a nation turn around and away from our own forgetting of God.
I say this with great sorrow in my heart and also with a remembrance that God is full of mercy and grace - witness the election victory yesterday in NC. That was an act of a gracious God. IMHO.
Exactly. What man means for evil, God can turn into something good.
P.S. That is the story of Joseph in Genesis.
Only if you believe in predestination. I don’t.
As much as it is painful for the people who lost families that day, 3,000 people is just a pinprick in the world’s population and there have been many events where more died, either from natural disasters or man-made evil.
God knew the eternal fate of everyone who passed that day from children to the elderly. He knows everything that will happen before it happens. Nothing surprises Him. He uses even disasters so that some might repent and turn to Him before it is too late.
God proclaims “I will have mercy upon whom I have mercy and compassion upon whom I will have compassion.”
Much to Jonah’s (and other’s) dismay.
G-d never promised us that bad things would not happen to us. He promised to be with us if and when they did.
We know 144,000 Jews will still be around for Armageddon.
My baby son wanted me instead of mommy to change his diaper causing me to come to WTC 20 mins later than planned
I was on the scene in time to see my office under attack
but I escaped unscathed
I got 18 extra years and counting, I can only guess why
