Or if you’re a big guy, 2-3 drinks 2-3 times a week isn’t much at all. A glass of wine with dinner, as this study suggests, isn’t gonna kill you.

Nobody considers a pint of wine to equal a glass of wine.

You left out a word, so I fixed it...

You obviously have not seen the friends on my wife’s Facebook page.

More people die running, cycling or working out than do on bar stools.

There was a study done in one of the Scandinavian countries a few years back that concluded that if medical authorities were being honest, they’d declare not drinking in moderation to be a major health hazard.

This makes sense to a degree when it comes to cardio pulmonary disease.

In the early 1900s when they were conducting autopsies on corpses to learn basic causes of death they found alcoholics had little arteriosclerosis - practically no build up at all.

Hypothesis was that the alcohol was burning away the buildups.

Now the liver was a whole other issue.

A funny but true bit.

My cardiologist asked me if I smoked. I said “No.”

He then asked me if I drank. I said “yes.”

Socially — he asked?

I said “no.” He looked at me.

I said that before I go to bed, I take 2 pill medications, and instead of water, I drink 3-4 ounces of red wine. Wine rather than water, because of the heart healthy resveratrol. But I am alone. I drink the wine with the pills and go to bed. There is no one around— so it is not “socially”.

He looked at me— and had to think a moment, then he was fine.

It really was a funny exchange!

For years I made beer with, and and drank it with my Dr. We both relocated... Had to find a new Dr. to drink with, so I married her.

More evidence that there are too many researchers who will write anything for a grant application and too much money being squandered on needless studies which produced totally-useless information.

It is 1.3 drinks a day ... to say that amount is borderline alcoholic to me is ridiculous.

Two glasses of wine daily are certainly excessive anyway.

Is it? Let's say you have Amaretto or Bailey's or Kahlua or cheap blended scotch in your coffee every morning. There's 5 drinks a week, maybe more.

Next, you don't drink sodas, cause those are ten times worse for you than beer. So you'll generally be having a beer or wine with dinner, so there's ten. (Assuming a single drink the whole meal...)

Now, doing yardwork on the weekend means you gotta have some good Shiner Redbird or Prickly Pear or such. Add 2-3 to the total. Fancy brunch with mimosas on Sunday? Nice glass of scotch with a cigar one night? Maybe a gin n tonic or an absinthe as a nightcap 2-3 days?

It's real easy to hit 17-18 drinks a week, and that's not even close to an alcoholic. None of that would really even get you buzzed, much less drunk!
