Dr. Kawas and her team of doctors and professors analyzed data from a long term study conducted at the UC Irvines Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders. They dubbed this study the 90+ Study which has been following people over the age of 90 since 2003.
The research covered everything from daily exercise to sleep schedule to diet.
As a result, the researches concluded that people who drank two glasses of wine or beer per day saw an 18% drop in their risk of early death. On the other hand, those who exercised 15-45 minutes per day only saw a 11% drop. In other words, drinking alcohol is better for you than exercise for longevity of life.
Smashing your face against a brick wall is better for you than washing your face, recent study says.
I bottle of wine is alcoholic. Five bottles is advanced stage.
Drink to live healthy.
I have not found that to be the case, exactly.
“How can death at over 90 years of age be considered early death?
Have you ever seen those yogurt commercials from the late 70’s? Russians from 100+. Just sayin.
Irish and Sicilians should live forever.
Well, just remember, too much of either will kill you. :)
I really enjoy those walks, alternating between listening on my iPhone to music, audio books, and the Rosary. Most of the time, I see runners who don't look like they're enjoying themselves.
I never liked running, never had the mindset for it.
When it comes to drinking wine, I learned a valuable lesson: don't drink a bottle of wine the day before you see your doctor. Your blood will give off indications of anemia...lol.
“The problem with this study is that it is a lot easier to measure how many drinks a day someone has had vs their definition of exercise.”
I agree.
I do curls with 1 lbs weights. (16 oz. Bottles)
The trick is to remember to switch arms so my shirt sleeves fit properly, and the buttons over my belly.
Buzz is not the critical factor. What makes the urge to consume it? Another thing drink is a flexible definition.
I more than once heard that 30 to 50 ml of hard liquor or 125 ml of wine a day are good to your health.
I have actually seen autopsies of alcoholics and have to admit that most of them has super clean arteries.
Two glasses of wine daily are certainly excessive anyway.
This makes perfect sense. After all, vegetables are good for you, and beer is made from hops.
“I do walk 5-7 miles several days a week...”
Guess I need to move my beer cooler further from my recliner!
Nine drinks per week is one cocktail per day and maybe two on Sat. Thats not borderline anything. That is light social drinking.
I’ve been doing both for a long time now pushing 82.
And Ruth Bader Ginsburg !
lol, you never know when just a few feet can mean the difference between life and death.
“This is true because I want it to be true. If thats scientific rigor enough for climate science, its plenty for beer.”
It’s called “placebo effect” and it works.
As Ben Franklin said,
“Beer is proof that God Loves you.”
Best news all week. Can’t wait to celebrate tonight.
If I keep my beer in the barn where I need to cut through the bull’s pasture, I can get my beer and exercise.
Only problem is the exercise shakes up the bottles.
I’m doing both! :)
But just to put a point on my rant...
Juul has been recently taking heat for their ad and marketing campaigns, yet we giggle at the alcohol industry's assault on our intelligence. Some examples you'll see on social media:
And there's many, many more. Anyone who doesn't think these were developed by industry marketing groups is fooling themselves. And notice, too, how they are mostly targeted at women.
