Where is his evidence? Did he ever produce any evidence he actually knew these stars? Photos? Phone book with their numbers in it?

There were lots of pics and some even left him stuff in their wills.

Years ago I bought a box of papers at auction from the estate of one of Howard Hughes’s secretaries. Was kind of cool seeing Jean Harlow’s phone number in her phone book and newspaper clipping of her talking about working for him.
Much of Bowers’ clientele had um, “special tastes”. This was in the buttoned-down 40s and 50s when being gay had both legal and social consequences. Big name stars had to be extra-careful and he specialized in being discreet.
Maybe so, but given that Hollyweird specializes in deviant sex, I still find it hard to believe that these people couldn’t find “partners” among each other.
