FULL TITLE: US airports have hired EBOLA screeners to test blood samples from travelers coming to the US from countries plagued by the deadly virus

Washington Dulles International Airport has hired part-time staff screen travelers for the Ebola virus,

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health was recently in search of a nurse to oversee 'biothreat responses,' including to Ebola, reported the Epoch Times.

The spate of screener hirings follow the World Heath Organization's (WHO) July declaration that Ebola is a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), only fifth time the agency has made the designation was introduced following the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak.

No cases linked to the current outbreak have been reported in the US, but the increased screenings come as the Bahamas announced yesterday that it is on 'high alert' for the arrival of Ebola.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

They should also include pig ebola, which has killed 1/5th of the world pork supply since Spring. The swine in China, Cambodia, Vietnam and other East Asian regions has already suffered a 40% die-off from pig ebola (called African Swine Fever by the world health people to remove the ebola connection in the public’s perception).

“...EBOLA screeners to test blood samples...”

Not a job with much of a future and retirement benefits.

How long before you get results back on the blood test?

How do you keep the traveler isolated until you get results back?

Will you test everyone arriving from a certain country, or specific airport, or plane?

If one passenger tests positive, does that mean everyone on that plane must be tested? How do you get them to stick around?

Another airline "perk" - minimum-wage wannabe "doctors" poking you with needles. This should be fun to legislate.

Not to minimize the severity of the pig virus, but African Swine Fever is caused by a virus that is completely unrelated to the Ebolavirus. Technically, Ebolavirus is a single stranded RNA filovirus, while the swine fever is a double stranded DNA asfarvirus. So it would be completely incorrect to call the swine virus "Ebola."

So far, it does not seem that the pig virus affects humans. It is just a threat to our food supply.

Does this mean thousands of African “climate refugees” or “migrants” are on their way here with a layover in the Bahamas?

How about tests BEFORE they leave their sh*t hole country???

Would you want to trust a Sh$t hole country to quarantine an ebola carrier?

They will gladly send them to America.

I would trust them about as much as I’d trust ebola nurse Kaci “screw the quarantine, I’m going out for pizza” Hickox!

pig ebola (African Swine Fever) is Reston virus (RESTV) and is one of five known viruses within the genus Ebolavirus. It was first seen in 1990 in Reston Virginia in a group of monkeys purchased for medical testing.

No, it is actually a completely different virus with a significantly different biology. I am very well aware of the Reston strain of Ebolavirus; this is a completely different thing. Many viruses cause hemorrhagic fevers, including measles virus. That doesn’t mean they are all Ebola.

Ebolavirus vs. African swine virus.

What about the Africans who stormed across our southern border?

Some of them did just that and were re-settled in Portland, Maine awaiting their “asylum” hearings. Send them back!
Many of them are from African countries with Ebola.
