“We want to be comfortable and treated like humans.
Skip 200 meals and you’ll be on your way to what you desire.
Alas, it’s not what they really want.
“Meals are spent in pain, or filled with worry that a flimsy chair might collapse.”
I had an acquaintance years ago who was 400lb+.
He broke every chair he tried to use at my house.
After that, he sat on the floor. (I was running out of chairs)
Me and my buddy are both in our 50s and still 160. always say when we run into people that are 300+ pounds tgey didnt get that way overnight
“Wrong. Incorrect. Disproven.”
Are you one of those folks who believe there’s some magical quality to obesity and that the laws of physics do not apply?
Calories eaten - calories burned = body weight.
In 100% of cases in the universe.
Ok, so let’s say that I don’t eat for three days. Assuming that the body exerts 2000 calories a day, and 6000 over all. And one pound of fat is 3500 calories, it should stand to reason that I should lose almost two pounds of fat in three days.
But that doesn’t happen. The body will use some fat for energy, but it mainly will get the energy from stored glycogen and will break down muscle. And over time, it simply will lower your metabolic rate, so fat burning no longer happens. The body wants to do everything in its’ power to conserve body fat, even during calorie reduction.
We went to an outdoor wedding a few years back and they had those little folding chairs out in the grass.
Some morbidly obese woman sat in one and the back legs of the chair went into the ground and she went backwards.
A site to see her fat little legs up in the air. Took what seemed like 5 minutes for her to get up.
She was yelling about the chairs being flimsy and at fault but this did not happen to any other guest. Think it would be a clue for her to lose weight.
While true, there is more to obesity than mere willpower to control caloric intake. For most obese people it is a **hunger** disorder.
I have been carnivore/keto for about a year now. My blood pressure dropped from 165/95 to 120/70. My weight loss was 30 lbs. I now have the energy to exercise nearly every day. The swelling in my legs and ankles is gone. A1c is normal. Ditto for all other blood studies.
Best of all, is that constant hunger is **gone**. I am thrilled. My doctor says to keep up the good work.
“My rule is that my boobs cannot hang over the table.
Boobs over table = NO booth”
Your boobs need rest too!!!
The equation is still valid and true.
Your assertion is that the body reduces the rate at which it burns calories if restricted.
True.
Found the Aristologist!
Which means you’re not burning body fat.
It’s about reducing Insulin Resistance. That’s what causes most obesity.
Get healthy to lose weight, not lose weight to get healthy.
She had the “clue” for many decades, likely.
My bet is that she has lost and regained hundreds of pounds over those decades and hates herself for it.
It is almost impossible to win over a hunger disorder. There is hope, though. The veto/carnivore diet is winning the hunger battle for many. It did for me.
Yes! This is the truth.
Tell me about it.
I was close to my max weight in the USAF 25 years ago. I was playing full-court basketball for 1-2 hours daily, along with other exercise.
They put me on a low-fat, high-carb (note, not veggie, but just carbs) diet, and made me take aerobics classes three times a week in addition to everything else.
I lost one pound in four months. My calorie intake was deficit daily compared to calories burned, but I wasn't losing weight. Those who say eat less move more without examining the type of calories consumed are full of it.
I successfully completed my first 36-hour fast over the weekend. There’s no way I could do it without being on a Keto routine, my blood sugar would crash, Keto keeps your blood sugar on an even keel, since you are getting energy from Ketones.
The avoidance of carbs reduces appetite.
People feel sated on fewer calories due to reduction of insulin in the blood and other hormonal changes.
And the onset of ketosis keep the train rolling.
It does not change the equation, which is axiomatic.
Be fair, I would suspect, regardless of diet, just getting rid of processed-food would make a difference in weight.
