An anonymous fellow FReeper also kept a knowledge base and was kind enough to share the content with me, which means a good update. If you haven't visited recently it may be worth your time to go there, download the various directory lists and see if anything useful has been added.

I don't post many articles so if someone sees this & feels it's worthy of posting to FR or on prepper threads, please do!

This article is pretty thoughtful and deals with surviving a major earthquake in very cold conditions (AK in winter). While cold weather prep is critical to survival, lots of info in this article could also be applied to 'warmer' climes, such as the west coast. Preparing family members, making sure furniture & other items don't fall over (at least not easily - in 'the big one', the walls could come down), looking for safe places to shelter, know where your utility shutoffs are & how to shut them off (like gas), being able to survive if the house is uninhabitable, having clothing, food, shelter (tents, etc.) if none is available & you're on the street .... etc. etc.

I think this article is worth taking a look and modifying to your situation/location.

Leave the SHTF out, and here is 2009 thread with Over 10,000 replies! Weekly Roundup - Living On Nothing Edition[Survival Today - an On going Thread #3] . I think FR was more populous then.
