They don’t even give you peanuts any more, it’s a choice of some crackers or pretzels.

1. through 5. could happen to you on any airline. 6: Southwest no longer serves peanuts and now serves more substantial complimentary snacks on longer flights. If you want more, all you have to do is ask.

Southwest is okay for flights lasting no more than a few hours, but I wouldn’t like to be jammed in that tight for 6 hours.

Bring your own food! Eating peanuts on a long flight is lots of flatulence.

I flew on Pan Am from Agana, Guam to Los Angeles in 1977. The audio on the video system crapped out. Pan Am said “There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is there’s no audio for the movie. The good news is we aren’t going to charge you for the movie.”

We took off about 10 or 11 pm and all the passengers wanted to do was sleep. But they persisted in showing the movie with the flickering light keeping everybody without eyeshades from falling asleep.Remember these were the days of a single screen (maybe two) at the front of each cabin. This was even before there were drop-down screens hanging from the ceiling every ten rows or so.

Have flown hundreds of times - my last Southwest flight (Hartford to Orlando) was the best I'd ever had, anywhere.

Was in an aisle seat reading my Bible and the stewardess kneels down next to me and tells me she just "witnessed" to her co-worker sitting in the jump seat next to her, who then accepted Jesus into her life.

Most Freepers might say: Huh? - but some of you know what I'm talking about.
The stewardess was so exited she had to tell someone - and I was the first person she saw reading a Bible - so I got to share in her Good News.
To a "believer" it doesn't get much better than that.

Yeah, I’ve learned to overdose on melatonin and put on a eyecover. Most of the time I can sleep half the way, but I really hate it.

Yes, it’s fine, but bring your own meal(s). All airlines IMHO have disgusting food if they serve food at all.

Not too much to worry about... However if you are going to be on a SouthEast Airlines plane (with that glorious rising sun on the tail) approaching Hawaii from the east you could be in for some excitement...

I made the trip on the way to Viet Nam March 1967. We got to get out of the plane for about 20 minutes as they fueled the plane. I am not sure but I don't think SWA existed then. I do not know what airline I flew on. It took a very long time to get there.

A blonde-headed lady gets on the plane in San Francisco with an economy class ticket. This particular Southwest flight DOES have a small First Class section and she sits down there. A stewardess asks to see her ticket and sees that it is a coach ticket.

She tells the lady she must go back and sit in economy class per her ticket and the blonde says, "I'm blonde, I'm going to Hawaii and I'm not budging!". The stewardess argues with her for about five minutes and can't get her to move. She does and tells the Captain about the problem and he says that he will help. He goes back and tells her the same thing and the woman again says, "I'm blonde, I'm going to Hawaii, and I'm not budging!". After about another five minutes, frustrated and unwilling to call the Air Marshall into the fray, he goes back and sits down in the cockpit to think about it for a minute.

The co-pilot, who has had headphones on the whole time, notices something is wrong, removes his headset and asks the pilot what is going on. The pilot tells him the story. The co-pilot says to the pilot, "Don't worry, I'm married to a blonde. I'll take care of it. He hurries back to the woman, whispers something in her ear, and she immediately jumps up, hastens back to economy, sits down and shuts up. It's over.

Both the stewardess and the pilot ask the co-pilot what he told the woman to get instant cooperation, to which he replies, "I just told her first class wasn't going to Hawaii."

Actually Southwest is better than most airline for passengers that need more room. They actually give the passenger a second seat. All the passenger has to do is ask and if the staff notices it is an issue they are supposed to make it happen discretely.

Not sure if the east coast thing is an issue or not. They have to have certain certifications for the planes making the long over water flights and I don’t think most of their fleet is so certified.

Hopefully you wont get seated next to some Muslim that’s chanting under his breath, smells like a campfire and keeps checking his watch. Have a good flight.
