I NEVER believe the Chinese press because they LIE, LIE and LIE some more.
Their hygienic practices are non-existent. If cleanliness were free...different story. But cleanliness COSTS money and people get NO MONEY from it.
So filth is cheap but the price is these occasional plagues.
Let's HOPE it stays in China.
An epidemic occurs when a disease affects a greater number people than is usual for the locality or one that spreads to areas not usually associated with the disease.
A pandemic is an epidemic of world-wide proportions. Check out infoplease.com for more information about Major U.S. Epidemics.
Stop these flights .
Stop this Chinese invasion .
Are there plans to contact those travelers on the plane? A quarantine? This article is terrible as usual, NBC.
And it's called the #WuhanFlu
Since I got the Asian Flu in 1957 I have noticed that one or two layers beneath each new virus story they named China or other Asian place as the origin. Funny.

Much more important, please remember this story which was on FR, too:
China Has Been Withholding Bird Flu Samples. Here’s Why ...
https://fortune.com/2018/08/28/china-has-been-withholding-bird-flu-samples-for-a-year...
The Chinese government has withheld samples of a virulent strain of avian flu from American researchers for over a year, the New York Times reports. And this strain of flu prevalent in birds, called H7N9, is particularly fatal, killing 40% of people who contract it.

I thought they might be waiting to use it as a biological weapon against us. No defense here for our innocent citizens.
War crime, anyone????
I don’t drink beer so I should be okay . . .

Perhaps it’s due partly to my age, but this winter, around Christmas time, I got a nasty upper respiratory cold. It happened despite getting a flue shot in November and being up to date with a pneumonia shot. It was likely a virus, as so many are, but unlike the others I have had over the years, this one just hung on and on. Eventually, I went to the doc and was put on an antibiotic regime, a cough suppressant, an expectorant, and an inhaler. Now that I feel I have finally licked the sucker, I read about a brand new vicious strain just breaking out in China and the U.S. If you know anything about viruses you know they spread like red hot embers whipped up by the winds of a wildfire, so it’s unlikely we will escape the wrath of this one, especially given how world travel is today. Apparently, this one first presents itself like mine did as nothing more than a simple winter cold. They’re sneaky because in the beginning it is not so severe as to cause self-quarantine, prevent travel or cause the victim to seek medical attention. What seems to separates these new strains is how quickly they get stuck in your upper respiratory track and will not leave on their own without medical intervention. Fortunately, I got rid of mine before it settled in my lungs.
It was just a matter of time.
Mexico says they have a case too. It will spread very quickly now, hopefully it will fizzle out quickly too.
