Who cares? This is just petty sour grapes. Suddenly when their candidate isn’t in the White House they become deficit hawks concerned about government spending. At this point with the government debt in the trillions, this isn’t going to do anything.

$10,000 a month, IIRC.

It was $1100 a month, and the amount paid is set by the Secret Service and not by Clinton. Or Bush. Or Obama. Or even Trump for that matter when he retires.

The fact that the Secret Service has to pay for rooms at Mar-a-Lago doesn’t bother me. They are charged with protecting the President, by law they have to pay for their lodging and it makes sense to stay where the President is. But why did Eric Trump have to lie about something so easy to disprove?

What the Trump hotel & properties charge and what they actually get paid are 2 different things. I’m going to guess that the federal gov’t accounting office and Trump accountants have worked this out.

Bubba Bill is charging them out the wazoo. In the Trumpsters case I suspect he is billing them with the intent to not collect thereby receiving the tax write off. It is another way to skin the cat and a smart one. Here is how it would work. Inflate the bill submitted to almost double. Submit and except the write off. When you have a business loss it is not near 1 to 1 but inflating would nearly reach that threshold. Just smart business where it is beneficial to both parties.

I do believe that you are right on target as I have read the same thing, except you don’t hear much about it.

Why would a billionaire charge hundreds of millions of poor people for software?

The movie “Shattered Glass” taught me everything I needed to know about journalism.

Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewel” is another good one about journalism and the media.

Easy to make the claim, WaPo.
Prove it.

Besides, even if it’s true, I’ve been paying for SS protection for Hillary for years, an as-yet-indicted criminal conspirator who VERIFIABLY intentionally mishandled, passed on classified information and intentionally destroyed US government property - you know, TAXPAYER-OWNED property.

All the while selling us out to hostile foreign powers.

The Mueller investigation, faux impeachment together cost like $45 million?
Not to mention the bribe of cash shipped off to Iran under Bammy? Congress plus Bammy and W siphoned off multiple billions from us taxpayers. President Trump hasn’t cut back nearly anything to the degree the budget should be cut held hostage by those cretin hyaenas in DC and the Enemedia.

[ It”s standard journalistic practice to exclude exculpatory information if a Republican ox is being gored. ]

That’s for sure. Keeps the liberal lemmings outraged and stupid with limited information. Works for the “evening news” propaganda masters.

How do you think billionaires got to be billionaires?

I’ve met several really wealthy people, every one of them is frugal. They may have an expensive collection of art or cars but habitually pinch pennies in most other areas

It’s probably a Govt Ethics ruling.
Govt employee isn’t allowed to accept gifts above say $15 meal. One time gift to a supervisor, like a retirement watch can’t exceed $300 and requires advanced approval.

When receiving a gift or gratis no charge for services, the amount must be based upon fair market rates.

So in the case of the Casita, if reserved for SecService, it likely must be charged the full regular rate and rooms at $600/nite, so it isn’t considered a bribe.

Of course, if he distances himself from the company and company offers pro bono, he’s accused of impropriety, and the opposite action, still attracts accusal.

They just hate Trump and want to attack him.
