Top Gear: Toyota Prius vs. BMW M3 Fuel Eefficiency

The Prius was less fuel efficient than the M3 of the time with its 4.0L, 414hp V-8 (around a track, anyway).

Heh, Michael Crichton was a great author, and in one of my favorite books he wrote was “State of Fear”, because he so completely and accurately captured the environmental leftists. He portrayed them accurately as people who would resort to lawlessness, tyranny, and murder to further their goals.

In it, he had the bad guys driving...Priuses!

I love that. How can you not love a book where the good guys are being tailed by bad guys in...Priuses???????

I think Honda is betting on the hybrid right now instead of electric cars.

I got 54 mpg freeway driving to sta. Barbara from l.a. using manual transmission 2009 Chevy cobalt XFE. Avg. 60 miles per hour....did a bit of coasting..but not more than 5 minutes total....more like 3 minutes total. U.S. had developed a hybrid Dodge Intrepid back in early 1990’s which was rated about 70 mpg. Done to demonstrate gas savings. Price of gas went down after that.
Briggs and Stratton had developed a hybrid back in 1970s...yup..that Briggs and Stratton. Prius is for “know little” but environmentally concerned motorist....Not bad product...but much more can be done.

I’m curious, what does it cost to charge the battery at a charging station and what are the taxes on the charge? Thanks.
