I have been traveling around Europe this winter, by train or bus when possible, city center to city center, no waits, no taxi or shuttle, walk up to the window buy a $25 ticket v airlines at $85 + luggage fees. Have to fly back to the states in a couple of weeks, not looking forward to that 14 hours

You should pick and airline that flies east to west.
