I don't come close to understanding how this would work, or if it's even possible I only got an undergraduate degree in general biology (education, actually). But there seem to be three things about Coronavirus which are astounding, although I'm suspicious whether the third is true.
1. Many cold viruses are actually simply less virulent forms of coronavirus.
2. The novel coronavirus doesn't affect children nearly as bad as the elderly.
3. Some people get the novel coronavirus again, and it's very deadly the 2nd time.
What if the coronavirus somehow uses the human immune reaction against itself, so that having very similar viruses in the past actually makes one more susceptible? Could it be that kids have weak cases because they've had fewer similar infections in their past?
If this is true, a vaccine could be a disaster!
By this time next year all questions will be answered.
Isn’t your last sentence describing what a cytokine storm is?
Yes - that’s what made the 1918 flu so deadly.

Maybe if my aunt had...
"We don't fully understand the phenomenon it may be because of differences in the immune responses of children compared to adults," Dr. Andrew Pavia, the chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah, told Live Science in an email. "One hypothesis is that the innate immune response, that is the early response that is aimed broadly at groups of pathogens, tends to be more active," in children, he said.
Re your Tagline: the Chinese certainly are living in interesting times.
Kids are the vector - spreading it from homes schools to homes?
“Why are children ‘missing’ from coronavirus outbreak cases?”
The 1918-19 “Spanish” flu took whole families, including the young, away. Some elderly apparently had some immunity to a closely related “Russian” flu many years before.
“Isnt your last sentence describing what a cytokine storm is?”
Hopefully in another week or two we will have info from Wuhan hospital’s if the blood filter cartridge system for Cytokine storm that is being provided by US company Cytosorbents is making a difference in the critically ill.
What of the Rhinovirus?
“it may be because of differences in the immune responses of children compared to adults”
Remember that Star Trek episode (Miri) about the planet where children lived for centuries but as soon as you hit puberty you got sick and died?
Might simply be that children’s lungs have fewer ACE2 receptors. More receptors are acquired as the individual ages (and, additionally, as the lungs are exposed to irritants and toxins).

Who will still be around to answer them?
That’s an interesting thought.
The immune system is complex beyond what we can believe or imagine.
I marvel at doctors who have chosen to study it and make a career as allergist/immunologists.
Do you have a link to a specific case where someone caught COVID-19 a second time? I think that is probably just a rumor.

Ann interesting study of who might be Patient 0.
then skip towards the end and listen to past Chinese prophecies.
Isn’t the vast majority of deaths from patients that developed a secondary pneumonia infection? If so, wouldn’t a pneumonia vaccination be in order?
IDK, but I’m going to get one anyway.
