A Florida woman stepped forward to claim a Powerball jackpot from January worth $369.9 million, Florida Lottery officials announced Tuesday in a news release.
She will know how to get the most out of her money, too. According to Sheryll Goederts profile on LinkedIn, she is an accountant with offices in Ocala and Dunnellon.
Goedert chose to receive the winning amount in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $276,558,034.09, according to the Florida Lottery. Thats before taxes.
The winning ticket was a Quick Pick, purchased at a 7-Eleven store in Bonita Springs. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket, the Florida Lottery said.
Goedert, 61, of Ocala, who Florida Lottery officials said is the managing member of Vacation Life LLC, claimed the winning ticket from the Jan. 29 drawing.

Rule #1: When you win a big prize in a state lottery claim it anonymously.
I’d just show up in a baseball cap and wear glasse and I’d have my hair cut above the baseball cap line.
She might not be able to, once she goes out to buy some toilet paper.

Leave it to the government to instantly turn your $370 million into $277 million, and then stand there with a gun demanding more.
She can afford one of them there bo-day thingies.
If she had been a Canadian she would have been able to claim eventually that lump sum tax free but that has never happened yet AFAIK for a large win.
She won $369 and is only getting $276? Shouldn’t that be AFTER TAXES?
Make that $396. not $369... “rounding error”. Heh.
I do too..just kidding around.
That’s because she’s taking the lessor lump sum rather than lifetime payoff.
The lump sum is always less.
This may be true but everyone will know how rich you are and expect you to pony up more than your share. Your charitable foundation should handle all of this. Be a generous benefactor to those in need, not so much the Uncle Sugar for every building fund.
Some states don’t allow that, or ‘sort-of’ do.
My state, Washington, does allow you to claim a winning lottery prize through an LLC or trust under a different name. However the state Supreme Court ruled several years ago that if someone wanted to to look at the documents to find out WHO formed the LLC, they could.
It came out of a court case years ago from a Yakima couple who wanted to remain anonymous after winning a jackpot. They fought it in court, but lost.
I generally dont play the lottery either. However, when it gets up to several hundred Million, Ill put down $5.
Depending on what city you live in, thats close to the price of a good beer at a bar.
So what the heck, Ill put up a beer for five chances at a few hundred million. Then spend however long before the drawing, thinking about how Im going to manage it.
OK, got it. Never won anything (don’t play ‘em either), so I’m not familiar with that choice. Thx.
I think this ruling was just in the last year or two.
I took it that the amount shes getting is for a one-time payout versus annual payments for some number of years. Federal, state, and maybe local governments with take ANOTHER 50% or more.
Holy Cow! With that kind of money she would be able to give every single American one million dolllars.
She better have bodyguards and plans to hideout somewhere for about 12 months.
I know, she looks 50 tops.
A bunch of years ago there was a worker at my company who drove all the way to Lansing to claim a mega millions jackpot. Unfortunately, while he did have all the numbers, the ticket was for the prior week’s drawing........LOL!
