15 Days to Slow the Spread

This story first appeared in 1600 Daily, the White House’s evening newsletter. Subscribe now to get breaking news from President Trump before anyone else.

This afternoon, President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force issued new guidelines to help protect Americans during the global Coronavirus outbreak.

The new recommendations are simple to follow but will have a resounding impact on public health. While the President leads a nationwide response, bringing together government resources and private-sector ingenuity, every American can help slow the virus’ spread and keep our most high-risk populations safe:

  1. Listen to and follow the directions of your state and local authorities.
  2. If you feel sick, stay home. Do not go to work. Contact your medical provider.
  3. If your children are sick, keep them at home. Contact your medical provider.
  4. If someone in your household has tested positive for the Coronavirus, keep the entire household at home.
  5. If you are an older American, stay home and away from other people.
  6. If you are a person with a serious underlying health condition—such as a significant heart or lung problem—stay home and away from other people.

Today’s guidelines build on the CDC’s general recommendations to help prevent spread of the virus. Americans should continue practicing strict personal hygiene, including washing hands regularly for at least 20 seconds at a time and wiping down surfaces in the home often.

Even if you are young and otherwise healthy, you are at risk—and your activities can increase the risk of contracting the Coronavirus for others. Everyone can do their part.

There’s no better way to protect your family and your community than by arming yourself with accurate, up-to-date information.

A massive, unprecedented nationwide response

President Trump declared a National Emergency in response to the Coronavirus on Friday, freeing up more than $42 billion in resources for states and localities.

The emergency declaration will give healthcare providers on the front lines of this pandemic the flexibility they need to respond. President Trump continues to cut through every piece of unnecessary Washington red tape that may hinder response efforts, and he is continuing to make every Federal resource available to those who need it.

“I know I speak on behalf of the President and our entire team when I say how grateful we are for governors all across the country and the seamless partnership that we have forged with them and with state health officials,” Vice President Mike Pence said yesterday.

“We also want to express great appreciation to the American people. Not surprisingly, it is inspiring to see the way tens of millions of Americans are responding with compassion [and] with common sense.”

I think they had also put diabetics on the list of those high risk.

We are witnessing the beginnings of the destruction of the American economy brought to us by our fu*king Fake News!

This was custom made for the Democrats!

I’m disgusted beyond words!

I agree with you entirely that the media has politicized this and have been extremely irresponsible, and in some cases almost criminal in their behavior. That said, we will be OK, and the economy will weather this. Further, this has raised awareness, at least among some, of the dangers of letting other countries (e.g. China) take over production of things we should be making here. Our relationship with China is on the brink of a ‘recognized’ Cold War. We were already in a Cold War with them - but they were the only ones who knew it.

Nah. It may look and feel that way, but it ain’t. This is something beyond normal control, but will evaporate at some point. Granted, there will be some big shifts in conduct and policies for a while, but it is not even close to “Death of America.” If anything, it will generate an even stronger resurgence. Keep your chin up.

————————————Do your part to slow the spread of the coronavirus

https://i.imgur.com/lcrdHQv.png

Even if you are young, or otherwise healthy, you are at risk and your activities can increase the risk for others. It is critical that you do your part to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Work or engage in schooling from home whenever possible.

If you work in a critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule. You and your employers should follow CDC guidance to protect your health at work.

Avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people.

Avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts - use drive-thru, pickup, or delivery options.

Avoid discretionary travel, shopping trips, and social visits.

Do not visit nursing homes or retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance.

Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands, especially after touching any frequently used item or surface.

Avoid touching your face.

Sneeze or cough into a tissue, or the inside of your elbow.

Disinfect frequently used items and surfaces as much as possible.

*School operations can accelerate the spread of the coronavirus. Governors of states with evidence of community transmission should close schools in affected and surrounding areas. Governors should close schools in communities that are near areas of community transmission, even if those areas are in neighboring states. In addition, state and local officials should close schools where coronavirus has been identified in the population associated with the school. States and localities that close schools need to address childcare needs of critical responders, as well as the nutritional needs of children.

**Older people are particularly at risk from the coronavirus. All states should follow Federal guidance and halt social visits to nursing homes and retirement and long-term care facilities.

***In states with evidence of community transmission, bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms, and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate should be closed.

**************

The risk of relying on foreign sources for critical medications was something that the U.S. congress should have been on top of. They failed to take steps to protect the nation. Both parties are guilty of this negligence.

The congress wastes time and money doing political grandstanding yet has no time or desire to highlight and rectify our national vulnerabilities. Its disgraceful.

Another side benefit is that people will be self aware of how scared they were over this crisis.... How they geniunely feared for their own safety and the safety of their loved ones.. and the extreme precautions that so many people were willing to take... So once this blows over maybe they will have a different perspective on all this never ending talk about climate change and all the predictions that never come true and all the celebrities who fly private jets to climate conferences...... Bottom line, maybe they will recognize the difference between a real crisis and a fake crisis

I seriously just need a break from this Coronavirus bull sh*t for few days! It’s all anybody ever talks about anymore! Some of the people I work with are going bat sh*t crazy over this! One guy wears this protective coat with a hood to work! He looks like a freaking condom!

I think these nonstop Coronavirus discussions have worn me out mentally! I don’t know how some can do nothing but post thread after thread of this doom and gloom!

Thank you for the words of encouragement! Much needed.

I need a break from this bull sh*t!

Cheers!

I think we will all come out of this stronger, and some will actually come out smarter.

The slowdown in activity has helped me catch up. Parents who now have to deal with their children and cook for them just might develop a closer relationship with them.

We have an opportunity in this so called ‘crisis’. I hope we make the best of it.

A guy I work with said it something like this:

6 months ago there were riots in Hong Kong and then the virus. No more riots.

6 months ago there were riots in Iran and then the virus. No more riots.

6 months ago the Democrats started to impeach the President and lost, then the virus hit...

You do the math

My hubby is one. If you’re ‘sick’, how can you stay home?
Will they send a doctor to your house? One nned to be determined whether you have flu or virus. Just asking.

On another note....I know for sure the ERs are going to be crowded with illegals...I’ve seen them when there was not a dempanic.
