Looks like the late, great PV!

Good morning.

A better night, but not great. I’ll muddle through the day, though. First thing is sorting pills, then taking the laundry to the bedroom for folding and putting away, then going to Walmart and then phone calls. The latter may take half the morning, but I’ll get it done. Mostly because there’s no one else to do it for me!

So, I need to get to work. And FYI, Gonzo seems to be back to “normal” whatever that is for a parakeet! He’s carrying on a wonderful series of chitterings and squeaks the likes of which I haven’t heard since Beaker was her normal self.

I’m very happy for you and Gonzo. It’s no fun having a sad pet.

Gonzo just needed time to mourn and I guess that may seem strange to humans, but I believe, since parakeets will bond for life, that they’re capable of mourning. So it’s good to see him come out of it. His appetite has also picked up, which is a very good thing.

I’m always happy when my rescues thrive. It means they can be placed with other people. Beaker would never have been a good candidate because of her beak, and I would never have separated them. So things are looking up.

I need stuff to look up because I dread a couple of the calls I have to make today.

Oh, yes. I learned I can drop my ballot off at a ballot drop box, so I don’t have to trust the USPS to have it go where it can be counted. I’ll be going to the library today so I can see where the drop box is. Or they can tell me where it will be.

Good morning. It appears to be Tuesday. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Puppy is supposed to be a smart breed, but she needs to stop trying to solve the problem of getting her ball out from under the coffee table. At least for now. It isn’t working.

We might go to the library. Depends on how I’m feeling about Patrick Driving Adventures after my WW meeting.

Good Happy Tuesday Morning!

I don’t do coffee tables. (I call them “shin barkers”) I think it’s because when my Favorite Son was little he fell and hit the corner or the coffee table and had to have two stitches taken. He came within 1/4” of damaging his eye. So no more coffee tables until he was done experimenting with things in the lower 3’ of a room.

My drive home from Walmart was rather harrowing. A ‘Face Driving Adventure, for sure.

Coming home on the back road, I timed it wrong and was met, on that narrow two-lane road, by a lot of large utility trucks heading for jobs somewhere. With bright lights at almost eye-level with me, it was hard to see the white line on the right of the road (Utah’s contribution to the international highway system) and some parts of that road have a drop-off.

If I had left 10 minutes sooner or later, I wouldn’t have had the trucks to deal with. Standard Time can’t come soon enough.

Sometimes it’s really scary out there. The Patrick Driving Adventure got to the library and back, although he has some difficulty telling his right from his left.

“Why are you getting in this lane?”
“To get on the bypass.”
“It’s over there.” (Three lanes to the left.)
“Oh.”

It’s even scarier when you can’t tell the driver (in the other vehicle) that he’s in the wrong lane (right) to turn in the direction his signals indicate (left.)

Back from the library.

One phone call did me in.

Is this Monday?

Tuesday.

Drama Queen came by. She gave me an Illinois license plate that was a remnant from her car-dealership job. She says she’d doing social media marketing for them now, as well as cleaning, I guess. I hope they pay her more!

Drama Queen has been very low profile, lately, hasn’t she? Is the Other Shoe about to drop? I used to get that way with my Favorite Daughter, because it seems I only heard from her when she wanted a favor or was in some kind of trouble that she made for herself.

How long has the Drama Queen been working for the car dealership? I want to drive on down the street and stop at the nearest place that has cheeseburgers, but I’ve done all the driving I want to today.

Tomorrow is my appointment with the pain clinic and I’m interested to see how much they will charge me. It seems they’re going from one cost to $5 more, then $5 less for a time or two and then $5 more again. Roller coaster!

Drama Queens and Driving Adventures and Pain Mangement, Oh, My!

I have tenants.

MOSTLY GREAT ones.

No, really, the couple renting our First Home are like dream tenants; VERY low maintenance.

So, I suppose I REALLY ought to have employed the singular: “tenant.”

The jumpy, mousey woman with the yippy dog renting our in-law alerted us to a terrible incursion of ants.

Basis past Autumnal ant wars we envisioned the typical legions of stoic, and determined insects engaged in an epic campaign against Something In The Kitchen, and rang up the pest control company.

She saw more ants the next day.

So we rang up a different company to talk about — did I mention her feeling that just about everything stronger than lilac water is a deadly toxin?

It became inescapable that there must be an INDOOR treatment of some kind, but no substance in the arsenal of the pest control company would suit her.

HOWEVER, in the course of the discussion, it became apparent that the Antpocalypse consisted NOT of ten thousand times ten thousand ravaging hordes, but [drum roll] a dozen assorted scouts.

Scouts. One a-penny, two a-penny...

SCOUTS! She’s beating the war drum like it’s the siege of Jericho, and it’s nothing but a dozen spies from someplace across the Jordan!

Can I fly out east and have some Driving Adventure? That actually sounds exciting, in just the sort of viscerally satisfying way that dealing with The Tenant isn’t.

Yeah, it’s been a while. I think she’s been working at the car dealership since sometime in August. Hopefully there will be no shoe!

I’m about to take Pat to work, and then I’ll take Kathleen to her riding lesson.

When I was a younger man a PDA was a very different thing.

Entirely.

Crikey.

What’s wrong with a little boric acid? Or diatomaceous earth? The latter will take care of all the creepy crawlies, and since its “food grade,” it won’t hurt you or any pets. Unless the pets have six to eight legs... Available online and at larger home improvement stores.

You know what Driving Adventures are like here. Just, not in the BB SUV, the one that doesn’t like steep or long grades. ;o]

Ah, how fondly I remember Bob Newhart's "The Driving Instructor." Well, I guess that was my fault again. You see, you were in the left hand lane, you were signaling left. I just more-or-less *assumed* you were going to turn left.

LOL!

I had someone get upset with me because I didn’t approve of any PDAs directed toward me!

That was hilarious. Some comedy was better on the car radio, just before curfew. I mean how could your folks be upset when they heard you laughing in the guy’s car? ;o]
