I've run across a bunch of information indicating zinc may help prevent/reduce the effects of coronavirus in the elderly. Please note that many everyday multivitamin pills (e.g. Once a Day, etc.) have 100% Zinc RDI. Ditto many other supplements etc. (e.g. hair growth pills, etc.).

Zinc is important in wound healing, the functioning of our immune system, eyesight, brain development, the proper functioning of sperm and the synthesis of testosterone.

That will make sure it has not Democrat support.

Dr. Zelenko has stated that hydroxychloroquine acts as a sort of portal for zinc to enter the cells and stop the virus from replicating.

Zinc boosts your immunity system. You can take the supplement, or pay 10x the amount for “Zicam.”

Years and years ago, I read of a doctor whose daughter had a red sore throat. He gave her a zinc pill, but she didn’t want to swallow it. So she just let it melt in her mouth. In the morning her throat was fine. So the doc is the one who started the lozenge idea.

As soon as I have the slightest feeling of a sore throat or swollen glands coming on, I take zinc lozenges -— one every few hours. In a short time, I am fine.

Zinc tablets pretty much disappeared weeks ago in most places.

I found some though, at my Kaiser-Permanente pharmacy in the OTC section.

Vit D3 is also useful. It has been shown to reduced the incidence of respiratory illnesses. Try 4000 IU to start.

It helps to understand zinc's specific role in treating COVID-19. Chloroquine is an ionophore which gives it the unique ability to penetrate the virus infected human cell wall and create a pathway for zinc to enter the infected cell, attack and disrupt the replication process of the virus and kill it. While some zinc can get through the human cell wall naturally on its own, it appears not enough can get inside to be effective without the assistance of the Chloroquine ‘gate.’ That's why it is necessary to have a good supply of zinc available to do its job along with the Chloroquine. The z-pack is part of the cocktail to kill any opportunistic bacterial pneumonia that may occur in the inflamed respiratory tract caused by the corona virus.

I have used zinc lozenges for many tears - at the first sign of a cold I start sucking on 2-3 lozenges a day. You are supposed to let them dissolve slowly in your mouth and under your tongue. My understanding is that the zinc creates an acidic environment in your nose and throat, which inhibits viruses from multiplying.

Whatever the reason, it works great for me - I never have serious or long lasting colds, and I have not had the flu in 25 years.

I heard something from a local doctor early on in the kung flu crisis that said the zinc lozenges should be effective against the virus. I have a large bottle of them in case of symptoms. Haven’t needed them yet though.
