Israeli scientists: ‘Active component’ of coronavirus vaccine days away: Human Testing By June 1

A team of Israeli researchers says that they are days away from completing the production of the active component of a coronavirus vaccine that could be tested on humans as early as June 1.

“We are in the final stages and within a few days we will hold the proteins – the active component of the vaccine,” Dr. Chen Katz, group leader of MIGAL’s biotechnology group, told The Jerusalem Post.

In late February, MIGAL [The Galilee Research Institute] committed to completing production of its vaccine within three weeks and having it on the market in 90 days. Katz said they were slightly delayed because it took longer than expected to receive the genetic construct that they ordered from China due to the airways being closed and it having to be rerouted. As a reminder, for the past four years, researchers at MIGAL scientists have been developing a vaccine against infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), which causes a bronchial disease affecting poultry. The effectiveness of the vaccine has been proven in preclinical trials carried out at the Veterinary Institute.

“Our basic concept was to develop the technology and not specifically a vaccine for this kind or that kind of virus,” said Katz. “The scientific framework for the vaccine is based on a new protein expression vector, which forms and secretes a chimeric soluble protein that delivers the viral antigen into mucosal tissues by self-activated endocytosis, causing the body to form antibodies against the virus.”

Endocytosis is a cellular process in which substances are brought into a cell by surrounding the material with cell membrane, forming a vesicle containing the ingested material.

In preclinical trials, the team demonstrated that the oral vaccination induces high levels of specific anti-IBV antibodies, Katz said.

This is the company that’s been working on a vaccine for a stubborn poultry coronavirus. Israelis eat more poultry than anyone. A lot of turkey!

That’s what you can do when you study immunology instead of bomb-making.

Moot information.
Drug testing in other countries doesn’t equate to drug approval in the U.S.

Ok, I’ll admit to being prejudiced. When I see a group of Jewish scientists and doctors working on something, I’m optimistic.

True, but it could give a country willing to use the vaccine a competitive advantage in the world marketplace - if the vaccine works.

No problem. I’m sure Dr. Fauci will approve it by late 2024, at the earliest...

That’s right if a country any country came up with a vaccine that actually works all bets off period.

Yeah when you are laying there waiting to die and some country has a vaccine, and the USA government forbids you, denies you a chance to live. ....it’s then time to extinguish that government by any means.

"...the airways being closed ..."

Yeah, that's a big problem with this CV stuff.

"“Our basic concept was to develop the technology and not specifically a vaccine for this kind or that kind of virus,” said Katz. "

And THAT is where the CDC failed on being in charge of testing.

FDA Approval Process
It takes on average 12 years and over US$350 million to get a new drug from the laboratory onto the pharmacy shelf. Once a company develops a drug, it undergoes around three and a half years of laboratory testing, before an application is made to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin testing the drug in humans. Only one in 1000 of the compounds that enter laboratory testing will ever make it to human testing.

RE: If it is proven to work elsewhere, the US FDA will definitely accelerate its approval.

It seems the FDA has been beyotch slapped by Trump. They’ve been approving things in record time lately.
