thanks, I have zinc pills.
Thanks for the zinc picolinate info! Just ordered from Amazon and forwarded your info to family.
Can you suggest dosing recommendations? I’m wondering about taking as a preventative vs. actual treatment if symptoms occur. Would more be required for heavier people?
Thanks again!
Ping to 96 re zinc picolinate
I am at 210 pounds and taking 22mg per day with food. If I develop symptoms I will be more intent on getting HCQ, but how much per kilogram to use depends upon the ingestion to levels intracellular and I don’t have a chart for that. As an anecdotal data point, there are so many physicians prescribing the HCQ + Zpak without adding a zinc supplement and getting good results obviously depending upon only natural circulating levels of the mineral. I asked one of our physicians at FR if he was doing zinc level checks. He has had good results without nonitoring zinc levels.
I would simply say to not go beyond the Upper Tolerable Limit on any supplement. Many supplements have this limit tested by which going beyond starts to cause people detriment.
In 2018 the European Food Safety Authority concluded that green tea catechins doses at or above 800 mg per day may be associated with initial signs of liver injury, while catechins from green tea infusions (brewed tea) and similar drinks are generally safe.
This means youd get over 400 mg (it tested to over 240 mg per capsule instead of the claimed 200 mg) of EGCG from nearly 800 mg of catechins in those two capsules. Do note EGCG interferes with multiple prescriptions and NOW says to take only one capsule a day.
For Quercetin, that same site says its Top Pick is BulkSupplements.com Quercetin Dihydrate. The next best for cost for the quality was MRM brand quercetin, followed by Solaray quercetin. I use a non-reviewed NOW quercetin.
The site further states this:
Side-effects with quercetin have been uncommon in short-term (three months or less) clinical studies at doses between 500 mg and 1,000 mg per day. Reported side effects have generally been mild nausea, stomach upset and /or headache. Taking quercetin with food may reduce stomach upset (Andres, Mol Nutr Food Res 2018), as well as increase absorption if the foods include fats or oils.
Be aware quercetin interferes with some of the same and yet other drugs you may take.
I hope this helps. The study referenced quercetin and EGCG as being capable of amounts that would be safe to use, but I havent drawn out what would be equivalents and remember, this study has nothing to do with viruses (2014).
Thank you for your reply. It seems that I should take only one capsule of the NOW Foods EGCG daily (Thats the one I bought.).
But I wonder what I should do about my parents. They take some prescription drugs for hypertension and for thinning the blood. Unfortunately, I am not a registered member at that website so I have no access to the full report, which says which drugs are incompatible with EGCG.
And if the drugs my parents take are indeed incompatible with EGCG, then what... We have no access to hydroxychloroquine and must use any zinc ionophore we can find. Perhaps I could buy some quercetin if it isnt incompatible with the drugs my parents take...
Heres warning information on ECGC/green tea:
https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-960/green-tea
Quercetin:

Its not rocket science. Type into your favorite search engine Quercetin warnings, then hit Enter.
You are not as helpless as you think.
Thank you again. Next time Ill be more pro-active.
Some doctors are saying that Doxycycline instead of Azithromycin would be better for the patient.
You can OD on zinc. The quercetin/zinc/Vit C formula POSTED HERE A FEW DAYS AGO calls for 75-100 mg/1x day. Personally, Id not take this for more than 2 weeks as a prophylactic.\
I thought Dr. Zev’s was not prophylactic, but was rather for when you initially show symptoms....
Do you have a link???
No link. I just copied the formula down at the time.
Quercetin: 500-1000 mg.day (not well-absorbed, so higher is probably needed)
Zinc:75-100mg/day (limited time)
Vit C:500 2x/day (have time release formula)
Doxcy: 500mg 1x/day (in bacteria, doxcy stops reproduction of microbes)
I eat a lot of meat and other zinc-containg foods. DH has gout and so, eats less, but takes a daily multiVit. Also eat a lot of quercetin-containing foods.
Zev, IIRC, prescribed to early onset as well as more developed cases.
If the HCQ combo is not made available, I planned on the Quercetin+90mg zinc+doxycycline&/or Vit C (both of which I have on hand)at 1st sign of fever and continue 5 days, then reassess. Just as a stopgap.
I don’t think prophylaxis is necessary, as we are well-isolated and retired. IF HCQ combo is made widely available, I’d opt for that in preference.
I cannot recall last time I had flu. All the way back to 1956-57 and the Asian Flu (when individual households were quarantined). Ditto DH, who may have had a bad flu in 1973-74. My history of childhood illness, pre-vaccines, is that I always got a very light case. My brother got the worse case imaginable, so bad that as an adult MD he had to forego pediatrics, as he always caught whatever the kids had.
My father had a severe pneumonia in 1918. I always wondered if such exposure/recovery was inheritable. He never had a recurrence, lived to 84 with heart disease & COPD. Mother healthy as horse, lived to over 100.
Right now, we take medium level precautions, but not to the OCD level. Early this week, we viewed a property about 50 miles away in a county with 5 cases/no deaths (our county has 0 cases) In the further location, we checked out a grocery store. Smelled of cleaners, saw 2 masks, busy and well-stocked, only 2-3 people seemed freaked out, most were behaving normally and were relaxed. So were all workers. The store had sneeze guards, but no workers were masked or gloved. No tape on floors and no limit on patrons.
Thank you!
