How do you post a gif?

A GIF is treated the same way as any image. Post it like this:

(Remove the spaces after the carets, width is in screen pixels)

actually, the original code i copied from a FReeper more clever than myself by looking at the page code view; the CLEVER part was figuring out how to post HTML as literal text ...

i also took the time to do all of this and make this post so others could benefit from my effort and maybe more people would try to post videos in the future ...

How do you think I posted that image/link? I ain't gonna type all that out! But glad you did make the effort to spell out all the steps.

Now I'll play with it in the preview to see if I can the image to scale down proportionally but I suspect the image source YouTube may be preventing it.

You can’t post a video here. Only the picture and the link. I agree with others that yeah, it would be nice to update this website a little bit. But then again, reddit isn’t all that either. So it may be beneficial not to have all bells and whistles.
