Can anybody say Business way down and Insurance Claim ?
**************************************************
That was my first thought. But my second thought was that it was simply poor planning. They must have placed them in the grassy overflow area because they had no room left on paved parking area. These thousands of cars would normally be out on rentals but suddenly the rental market has temporarily shrunk with the lockdowns.
Since this was unprecedented they likely did not have well thought out operational planning. They SHOULD HAVE HAD FIREBREAKS BETWEEN GROUPINGS OF PARKED CARS. That would have at least limited the damage triggered by the fire in this grassy area.
Mostly Highndrys, Datsuns, and GM crap so no big loss.
wow, imagine that......
That’s going to be over $100 million in damage.
Cant do anything with avis
The insurance company can afford it right now. Everyone is staying home so they have a lot fewer claims. They should be giving us a refund for not driving.
I’ll bet the KIA Sedona I was hoping to find after it was in servive for a year will now be really hard to find!
You guys are mentioning all these rental companies but you didn’t remember the Alamo
yep used cars from an east coast rental company are going to be hard to find.
Video of some of it. Looks like the footage repeats twice;

Very possible. Now that You brought that up they could have parked one in grass and the Catalytic Converter could have torched it off.
Yes, like a staging area and they shuttle whats needed to that location.

NOOOOO zer0 Anything !!!!
Now Im getting nauseous.
Take Care and Stay Safe.
Gasoline containing ethanol causes metal gas tanks to corrode thus leading auto manufacturers to use plastic gas tanks. Plastic gas tanks melt when they get hot enough and release their contents. The spreading gas leads to a terrific fire. The fire department shows up to fight a gasoline fire with water instead of foam. This never works. Thus the loss of 3500 autos.
Dry grass might just spread fire faster than gasoline. Especially with a bit of wind.
Coming to Craigs List soon after a quick paint job.
For sale: One owner, low miles, minor body blemishes, flat, melted tires from Florida heat. Cheap!
Business is slow, revenue is way done, not a good time to sell the cars to an auction outfit, filing an insurance claim is a quicker route to some money.
