Lived in Japan and Japanese hornets are dangerous, and do kill people each year. I’d prefer they weren’t here.

I’ve seen ghouls and hobgoblins and witches
And some moth-eaten werewolves with fangs
There were creatures that chattered and others that clattered
And Japanese monsters with fangs (ah-so)
Frankenstein gives me the shakes
And Count Dracula’s driving me batty
But they’re not on a par with the worst one by far
The cockroach that ate Cincinnati (ha ha ha ha)!

For some perverse reason, this has always been my favorite ‘Outer Limits’ episode:

Wow. I could not view it, but the storyline sounds intriquing and very strange. The sub-plots were both interesting and believable. I might have seen this episode while I was in the hospital recovering from foot surgery. Not sure.

The TV was the kind you pull down to you over the bed.
Not a lot to watch at 3am, but black and white westerns or musicals. This was one of the exceptions. It might be the same one. I lay wide awake in my hospital bed when the episode had concluded.

My favorite ‘hospital viewing experience’ was The Day of the Dolphin, with George C. Scott.

Back then, they kept you in the hospital for a long time, after major surgery. I must have watched a lot of TV, but this movie is all I can remember.

You aren’t alone in your belief!

I’ve been following the Asian Giant Hornet story for over five years. UNTIL NOW NOBODY HAS EVER CALLED THEM MURDER HORNETS. It’s driving me so crazy I had to get up off the couch after emitting a string of swears that would make a sailor from the Bronx blush and stop watching tv. ************************************************************************ From the FB page, Relax, I’m an Entomologist:

In response to the New York Times article, I present the short and skinny: No, “killer hornets” are not invading the United States. In autumn 2019, a Vespa mandarinia worker was found south of the Canadian border after a nest was found in British Columbia. People only in Washington near the Canadian border should be aware of this non-native to make sure it does not establish.

The “killer” part of this hornet applies to honey bees, another non-native insect in North America. Like all hornets and yellow jackets, V. mandarinia has no interest in humans. They hunt insects and may scavenge for other meats to feed their babies. They will defend their nests and food against big lumbering mammals. Like all wild animals, don’t bother them and they won’t bother you. V. mandarinia goes after honey bee larvae in an impressively violent hunting strategy, hence “killer.”

'Like all hornets...no interest in humans.'

Tell that to the hornet that attacked me. My perfume is the only thing I could think of that drew him into my clothes. Hornets DO go after nectar and other 'non-bugflesh' food:

The Night Gallery is correct. My mom should have never let me watch it.

I watched it yesterday for the first time. I once had a June Beatle try to dig into one of my eyes . It is a good thing my job at the time gave me a strong hand because this creature was amazingly tough at its task. I won the battle and I’m not ashamed to say that vicious bug did not die easy.
