Special Dispatch to the New-York Times. BALTIMORE, Wednesday, May 9. The Convention has been successfully launched. As to candidates, the strife is mainly between HOUSTON and BELL. A majority of the Pennsylvania delegates are for BELL; the rest are divided between McLEAN and HOUSTON. Ohio is mainly for McLEAN. Probably two-thirds of the NewYork delegation are for HOUSTON. Massachusetts is divided between BNLL and HOUSTON, as is Connecticut. Virginia is nearly unanimous for BELL. Kentucky is for HOUSTON, after a complimentary vote for CRITTENDEN. Most of the Southern States, including Tennessee, are divided between BELL and HOUSTON. MCLEAN will have some strength in the Northwest. The chances preponderate for HOUSTON, and his friends claim his nomination on the first formal ballot.
