I'm in a discussion with a woman who is hellbent on defending obama and saying the $150b given to Iran is a lie. I provided a few links, she provided fact check (liberal) and AP (liberal).
Can someone provide links and info on what really happened? Thank you!

The billions in money “given” to Iran was money we froze then let them have by unfreezing it.
There was also supposedly $400 million in cash we flew to Iran.

Sorry I can’t provide any links but from experience, Jesus Christ could tell a Liberal/Progressive the truth and they wouldn’t believe it. I’ve tried to have rational conversations with them and it’s an extremely frustrating waste of time and effort.

It was frozen money meant for a future, non-theocratic, non-dictatorship, non-hostile Iranian regime that compensated us for taking the US embassy hostage. That money would have been an excellent boost to the finances of the successor to this current regime. Except Obama gave the farm away, meaning that any new regime will require tens of billions in American aid to get going. And the Iranian nuclear program got a real shot in the arm. Not to mention that the Iranian regime got a new lease on life after a period in which economic unrest was threatening to topple it. It’s as if Reagan had suddenly handed vast sums of money to the Soviet Union just as it was beginning to fall apart.
My dog has a better understanding of the truth than any liberal so you are wasting your time.

Conservatives for some reason engage liberals in the hope they can somehow “change” them thru educating them. You foolishly believe that a liberal wants to learn, and more importantly you think that this liberal processes information in the way that you do.

I think that was the payment made in cash. I think there was a much larger amount paid earlier via wire transfer.

Well it sounds risky but I’m in on stealing it.
I was actually a fairly liberal grad student when I first stumbled onto Free Republic back in 1998. I argued here for a year with a different account (while also arguing with my liberal professors using some of the ideas I got here.) I eventually learned that conservatives will argue with you, but liberals will just try to shut you down. Gradually I was won over. So it CAN happen. But it does take time.
