Legendary guitarist Bob Kulick, who is best known for his work with KISS, Lou Reed and Diana Ross - has died at age 70.
His younger brother Bruce took to Twitter on Friday morning to make the announcement of his passing.
Bruce wrote: 'I am heartbroken to have to share the news of the passing of my brother Bob Kulick. His love of music, and his talent as a musician and producer should always be celebrated.
'I know he is at peace now, with my parents, playing his guitar as loud as possible. Please respect the Kulick Familys privacy during this very sad time.'

Was he playing with Lou Reed in 1973 playing all that sweet lead for the intro to Sweet Jane?
Kiss guitarist? Was he the one with the long tongue?
He was the brother of the guitarist who took over for the original guitarist. He was a producer for KISS.
He was the brother of the guitarist who took over for the original guitarist. He was a producer for KISS. I guess he also played on some KISS albums as a studio guitarist.
No that was Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter. Kulick was on Coney Island Baby.
The long tongue belonged to Gene Simmons.
No, that’s Gene Simmons, the bassist. Bob Kulick did a fair bit of studio work with KISS back in the day. Sometimes Ace Frehley was acting temprementaal and/or was strung out, and they had Kulick play lead. One good example that I always loved was from Side 4 of Alive II, which was all studio work - he played on a song called ‘Larger Than Life’. Great song, great guitar. Kulick said he was mandated to recreate Ace’s sound and playing style, and did it perfectly. Monster guitar. As a side note to that, Peter Criss set his drum kit up in an empty theater to record his part, and that’s where that huge, echoing drum sound comes from. Like cannon fire.
Pretty sure you’re thinking about Steve Hunter. You’re talking about the live version on “Rock and Roll Animal”, right?
Lou Reed
Always synonymous with Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner
As good a guitar pairing as ever was
Yes the live version with two guitarists. First time I heard it was on WMMR out of Philly back in the day.
That intro is begun by Wagner and Hunter comes on a few minutes in as the dominant lead or I might have it backwards ....
Man did I love that album
That and Berlin were huge departures for Lou even though he used velvet underground material
Excellent guitarists
Alice Cooper and Bob Ezrin could see talent. ....
It was April 1974 and Im with a friend in his Cosworrh Vega tooling along stoned to the gills at night out on old agency road and he put in that eight track
A few minutes in Im like damn that is good....
Been that way ever since
The funny part of Rock and Roll Animal is that Lou hated album. Thought it was mixed wrong. Boy was he wrong. Great album, great versions of Velvet material.
Sorry, Lou...just added ‘Sweet Jane’ to my library. Can’t believe I overlooked it.
That was Gene Simmons. Still alive and kicking. Also, a great conservative.
Was he playing with Lou Reed in 1973 playing all that sweet lead for the intro to Sweet Jane?
One of the best intros of all time. Live, yet. Rock and Roll Animal.
L
One of those truly perfect songs. All versions are good. Even Mott the Hoople’s version.
Gene Simmons had “the tongue”.
Lou Reed had a favorite. Liked it better than his own version.

Oh my. I clearly need to investigate that band. Heard about them but never listened, that and the cover of Powderfinger youtube suggested... I believe I am now hooked. Thank you.
