I think I see the confusing part here...
And that is why they can't seem to garner much sympathy from the public when they get hit with the gas and rubber bullets and occasional baton sticks after failing to follow the police officers legal orders to move and they instead demand to be allowed to just keep doing what they are so good at doing and exploiting the situation for their own gain of driving their ratings. They expect special treatment. All I'd add is it's called karma beetch. Try acting like real journalists if that is even possible. You want respect then earn it.

Most of what passes for journalism today is some slight variation of “I didn’t vote for Trump and I want my money back!”

And in a way they are simply glorifying their role as journalists. People’s lives and property are being destroyed all over the place. They don’t care about the violence caused by the looters and anarchists.
They only focus on the police trying to restore order.
And these are no longer “George Floyd protesters” as the headline suggests. These are lawless thugs who refuse to obey the law and give a damn for their neighborhoods, the commonwealth, and civil society.

I wonder if her annual respirator training is up to date. It appears that someone put quite a bit of forethought into this photo op. State of the art negative pressure respirator with a voice amplifier, and some practice with it so you can understand what she’s saying. But they may have lost sight of the big picture, having worked in respirators I know that a few minutes of exertion can really take the wind out of you. If they’re not careful someone’s going to end up dead or in the hospital from running around in respirators with all that equipment they’re carrying.
When police in riot gear tell a crowd to disperse, they mean everyone including the press.
I have always thought that the non-lethal escalation path should be:
- paint balls loaded with blue leather dye and itching powder for identification after the riot
- pepper paint balls
- cs gas canisters
After that, move into rubber bullets, .177 pellets fired at legs. Reserve live rounds for those actually tossing objects at police or rushing police lines / stations.
The only thing about it that is “terrifying” is that it didn’t get permanently stuck in the reporter’s mouth...
