Nearly four years ago Colin Kaepernick began sitting and later kneeling during the national anthem before NFL games. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said in 2016. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” Kaepernick’s protest rocked the league. The country too. Kneeling became a regular issue for then-candidate Donald Trump to use on the presidential campaign trail. He found plenty of support, since the anthem and the flag remain cherished by many. He relentlessly blasted the players (“son of a bitch!”) and the NFL itself (“total disrespect for our great country!”) to thunderous applause among supporters. The league was never comfortable in the middle of the firestorm. It flailed about on how to handle player protests. First it allowed it. Then sent the players to the locker room. Then they came back out. Then almost everyone knelt. Then they didn’t. It was a disaster.

If they return to kneeling I won’t see it again this year because I won’t be watching the NFL again this year.
Just let NFL and NBA players become full time gangbangers. Let them bring out their inner thug. It’s like they never grew up.

we are in a state of open rebellion... what happens with the NFL is least of my concerns.
I don’t see it happening. Would look too much like Chauvin.
They knelt their way into irrelevance for the Democrats and Hillary Clinton for the 2016 election, they can Democrat Kneel their way into more irrelevance in 2020.
It really doesn't matter what they do, their clock is ticking and not going to stop. Their fans long left for other things.
Again - I have no problem with sports figures protesting and supporting political activism they choose.
I have a REAL problem with them doing it during the singing of the national anthem.
If the NFL is so diversity attentive let the players make their “statement” during a touch down or where symbols on their uniforms.
Oh - why is THAT not allowed?
70% of NFL Films employees have been canned and a similar percentage at NFL Network also.
I will not know, because I don’t watch the National Felon League, or any other Pro Sport, or TV, or Movies, or...
What if fans didn’t return in 2020?
I won’t notice one way or the other.
