Democrats like to pretend they have a long history of fighting racism, but the truth is that it was Democrats who supported slavery, upheld Jim Crow laws, and were so deeply involved in the Ku Klux Klan that the 1924 Democratic National Convention at Madison Square Garden in New York City is called the “Klanbake” convention.
Republicans fought against slavery in the south while Democrats defended it, and while Democrats pushed for segregation and Jim Crow laws, Republicans supported the Civil Rights act of 1964.
The Democratic Party’s history of racism is undeniable in the picture below, taken at the 1924 “Klanbake” Democratic National Convention.
The true history of the Democratic Party is an embarrassment to modern Democrats who pretend that conservatives espouse bigotry.

Yeah, and then Goldwater found a minor section of the civil rights bill that he did not like and chose to be against the entire bill. The idiot Goldwater voted against civil rights. The Republicans chose Goldwater to be the nominee and the rest is history. LBJ won in a landslide and in 1965 the nation got the Great Society. Girls would be paid to make government babies and the result is America rapidly moving to communist. Goldwater’s stand against civil rights is the doom of the USA.
They are still pro violence. They still support violent organizations. Theft is no problem to them. Human rights mean nothing to them unless they can use it against the opposition. They love calling Veterans baby killers, deplorables and such. Their main weapon is lies.
What it means is that democrats were racists then, and they’re racists now.

Just check out the Wikipedia page for the Democrat party. It actually says the party was formed to “fight slavery”! Also, there is no mention of its explicit support for slavery or segregation.
LBJ would still have won even if Goldwater had supported the CR Bill and curbed his incendiary rhetoric (”Moderation in the pursuit of …”). There was a huge sympathy wave building up the year after the JFK assassination, and the Dems were destined to win it all. Period. Period. Period. (As Biden would say).
Had it not been for one of “America’s unsung heroes”, OSCAR W. UNDERWOOD, the DIMocRATS might well have gotten their ORIGINAL preferred candidate, who was an OPEN National Officer of the KKK, elected as POTUS.
