A woman and her husband in northeast Maryland found a live World War I bomb while digging in a flower bed.
After the startling discovery Wednesday, Kelly and Shannon Thomas, of Belair, left the round where they found it and called the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
“After examining the device, it was determined that the best course of action was to conduct an emergency disposal to render the ordnance safe,” the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal said Thursday in a news release. “Bomb Technicians disposed of the potentially dangerous round on the scene.”

I call bs.....how does a fired artillery round end up in a MD flower bed......some nitwit just dub a hole and placed it in there for a photo op.

From the depth and width of the hole, I think they are setting their onions too deep.
It is a shell, not a bomb. It also looks suspiciously clean. Doubt that was recently dug from the hole it is sitting in.
Yeah. Could even be a 75mm. There’s a notch around it for a driving band so it’s not a practice round. My late grand father was stationed at Ft. Washington ,MD prior to going overseas in 1918.
Not a bomb. A projectile.
And given the salt-water corrosion on it, and the lack of brown dirt on it, I doubt very seriously that it was found in that hole, but placed there intentionally by someone seeking their fifteen minutes of fame.
The unexploded military ordnance, determined to be a 37 MKI projectile, made its way to the Thomas’ flower bed from the Aberdeen Proving Ground on the Chesapeake Bay 10 miles away.
