Don’t give out cash at a gas station - most stories are scams. I have put a few gallons in someones tank if they seem to really need help.

I put $10 worth of gas in a broken down van with a poor family - as I was leaving the guy was trying to pull the gas back out of a tank.

Actually, it is how most Black Americans are, most of the time. As a White, go into a Black neighborhood and there are three safe places where one can get help: a Black business, a Black church, or a Black community group meeting.
