I was lucky enough to see a fireball over S.E. Missouri maybe 10 or 15 years ago. It went slowly from west to east and was green with bits coming off of it. It was silent. It was 100 miles up, but looked like it was maybe 1000 feet up. Many who saw it thought it was an airplane on fire and search crews were sent out to look for a downed plane.

was picked up by a few of the infrasound monitoring stations set up around the world and overseen by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization. I'm pretty sure my neighbors triggered that alert tonight. I don't know if it is this explosive every July 4th because I usually walk to my city's show, or if everyone felt the need to buy more to replace the city's cancelled show.

Looking at the video, I saw one like that one night fly over our house some 20 odd years ago, only it lasted longer and went out of sight over the mountains.
I first noticed it while looking out my patio doors and saw the back yard light up brighter than a full Moon. I ran outside just in time to see it streak over my head. It had a roaring sound to it. I later read that it landed in the Pacific Ocean hundreds and hundreds of miles from my house.
