CNN: Former University of North Carolina Wilmington professor who resigned amid controversy found dead in his home

(CNN)Mike Adams, the former University of North Carolina Wilmington professor who angered the campus community on Twitter, was found dead in his home Thursday afternoon, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

Adams was found dead and alone in his home during a welfare check at about 2 p.m., Jerry Brewer, a public information officer with the sheriff's department, told CNN. The investigation into his death is ongoing, Brewer said.

Adams' death comes less than a month after the university announced that he would retire following campus uproar over his tweets.

My gut tells me he was murdered but they will tell us it was suicide.

I believe he was a Christian, so I'd rule out suicide too.

But it could just be a very unfortunate accident. Had my plumber die of natural causes, sitting in his lounge chair one evening with his remote in his hand while we were facing a plumbing issues and couldn't understand why he wasn't return the calls we left n his answering machine.

I am going to spec it was suicide, period. His prospects for future employment in the education industry were dim given his clear right side thinking. Unemployed at 55 is hard to take unless you wanted to be looking for work in another field.

Folks, schools were moving left since the late 60s and we let it happen on our watch. Don't know the path to change that now. Given we are looking at second generation “professors” whose heads are full of crap answering to cemented in leftest administrators and trustees, it is over. Perhaps removing the money from the table is the answer but how do we over come the notion everyone needs a degree to know they need to change their clothes?? 1.7T in student debt has funded this monstrosity along with incalculable family fortunes.

I went back to work mid May selling guns and as you might be aware, it’s been non-stop since the end of May.

In a May 28 tweet, Adams said universities shouldn’t be closing but that they
should shut down “the non-essential majors. Like Women’s Studies.”

Adams also tweeted about the individuals protesting the killing of George Floyd,
saying that rioters were “thugs looking for an opportunity to break the law with impunity.”

Multiple change.org petitions, with more than 120,000 signatures, started circulating
against Adams. And faculty, students, alumni and celebrities demanded that the university
get rid of him.
