This is/was the correct way to identify a young male. As on the old Family Affair TV Show. The young boy was addressed as “Master Jody Davis” by the butler, Mr. French.

I also call some of my friends that. It's kind of a term of endearment or friendship.

Our society gets to "triggered" over too many words.
