All the players in this seem to be female.

A report by ProPublica earlier this month first shed light on Grace's case, as it noted that she was on probation for fighting with her mother and stealing

This changes everything.....if attending class and doing her school work was part of her probation then she belongs in jail!!!

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility “””

Certainly eminently possible.

In the insane world of Leftists, we now have people being sent to jail for

- not doing there homework
- not wearing a mask
- openning a barbershop

Conversely, these same leftists either release from jail or don’t jail

- rapists
- arsonists
- pedophiles

The right believes in punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent.
Leftists believe in punishing the innocent and protecting the guilty.

“Violated probation.” If doing her schoolwork was a term of her probation then she was correctly re-incarcerated. What was she on probation for? It was surely not a “racist” act because probably almost all of the power structure there is black.

The kid is not in jail for not doing schoolwork. She is in jail for violating the terms of her probation. If one of the terms of probation is that you must keep your shoelaces tied then if you are caught with strings dragging, you are violating the terms of your probation and the consequences are invoked. Violation is up to the probation officer to note and enforce. Having known several sons of friends who ran afoul of probation terms, I have come to believe that for anyone arrested, if offered probation and they already have been in jail for more than a couple of days, it is better to insist on serving the term for which probation is the alternative. Violation in the end depends on the whim of the probation officer. If he doesnt like you , you will be at some point violated and you will then be taken in to serve the whole sentence and are less likely to get time off for good behaviour and your time on probation does not reduce the time you serve thus just abjuring probation sticks you in the system for a shorter period.

The story is only partially true...
The “juvenile” in question is prone to violence, has been locked up before, and was beating his mother..
not doing schoolwork was a violation of his parole...
mom was scared to have him in the house with her...
judge refused to send him back to his mother due to the beatings he was inflicting upon her...
used parole violation to put him back into lockup..
hence, he was locked up because he did not do his homework...

She was supposed to be in detention for fighting with her mother but was out on parole and then violated the terms. She was not jailed for simply not turning in homework, she was put back in jail for violating parole. I see nothing wrong with the decision to return her to detention. She should not have been returned to her mother, who was her victim, until the sentence was complete. The girl learned nothing from this.

Or at least have some concept of future. Many many cannot conceive of anything past Saturday evening. For many The Future is a myth used by parents/police/teachers/et al to keep them from having fun. This attitude can and usually does persist through life.
