Our two preteen granddaughters are usually very fun loving and get along with each other very well. However we noticed that they lately have been sad and have been having little flare ups with each other.
They stay with us several days each week while their mother works and we are blessed by them and enjoy a close relationship with them. We spend a lot of time together talking, reading and discussing bible passages, swimming and playing.
Well, they like to help Papa in the garden, it is usually a fun time picking vegetables together. Then yesterday, one of them dropped a large zucchini, they both went to pick it up at the same time. They pulled so hard that the squash broke in two pieces. Look what you did they accused each other angrily.
Then they let loose whatever had been bothering them; they started to pelt each other with any vegetable missile they could get. Thankfully the okra was not near as I have been looking forward to having some fried okra soon.
The cucumbers got into a pickle.
We want you to have vegetables to eat and get vitamins from, not to wear!
They were starting to get covered with green vegetable slime. You are starting to look like democrats!
You should take a selfie and title it snapped green beans!
Well you picked a fight, now it's time to squash it.
Here is some food for thought, next year all the seeds will be one mixed up plant.
It is okay sweetie, don't beet yourself up about it.
We will plant seeds of kindness and reap a harvest of love!
Finally my husband, their Papa, told them enough! Or you'll both be canned!
Now let us pick the ripe tomatoes, if you had used them I would have been stewed.
We like to slice the biggest juicy tomatoes, put them on a baking pan with some olive oil, some cheese and Italian spices on them. Then bake them till they are tender, yummy!
I later talked with one, and my husband with the other. Come to find out, a worker at the school aged children's center they attend when they are not with us had been treating them meanly.
We had a Bible lesson about treating other people as you want to be treated. I wanted to go and have a talk with the care giver, but my daughter will handle it.
We told our grand daughters that they could stay with us more often if they wanted and we would pray and to be comforted and ask Jesus to help that person to be aware of their need .
As grandparents, we would keep in the background unless we were called to do more. The battle belongs to the Lord!
Grab your balls, ladies!
It’s canning season.
I see it.
At the end of the food fight.....
Lettuce pray.
I bet they looked radishing!
LOL, yes the “grabbing balls” refers to the Ball jars used for canning. LOL.
If you don’t have a root cellar, find a cool dark place that is likewise celery.
I wouldn't want to be hit with that.
But, what fun they had for just the price of a few vegetables! Some of the best memories I’ve had were when I was not quite following the rules.
I’m glad the ‘maters were saved.
Tell them to give peas a chance.
