We have a new Covid Police Response Unit of 130 officers who are dedicated to citing and arresting Covid rule violators.

You can call the hotline to report violations 24 hours a day at 808-723-3900 and the police will come and cite/arrest the violator. Penalties are a $5,000 fine and a year in prison.

I live in Spain where they are very strict (they had the second strictest lockdown in the world and rumours are that they may be going back to another one) and they can issue spot fines to violators.
Anyway, I was on my way to another town on my scooter yesterday when I saw the Guardia Civil pull over another scooter that had a young couple on it, both wearing helmets but neither wearing masks. If they are married they will let them go but if they aren’t it would be a fine of 100 Euros each. I had no mask on either but I was alone so that was okay.
With so many businesses closed and so many people out of work the main source of revenue now is from fines.
