Salton Sea is a LOOOOOONG way from SF.

This one is already stronger than those, although not by much (4.6 vs 4.3). Hopefully it will settle down just like those.

I think Trump would do a far better job than anyone who came before him.

But if you want to wish a corrupt, mismanaged, debacle on CA in that event, feel free.

See post #10

Though, to be fair, the GreatShakeout scenario for SoCal posits a large quake starting just north of the Salton Sea at the southern end of the San Andreas fault...

“Heads Up Cali”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are not “Cali”. Since Salton Sea is in the southern half of California, your title should be “Heads up SoCal”. I despise “Cali”. I am sure many of us SoCals despise it as well.

USGS ignores him and his methods.

I’m not anti Trump, far from it but I have no desire to continue discourse with someone who makes ignorant statements, good day.

I'm getting more a "feel" that the data is faintly hinting a rupture further east than the San Andreas.

The Ridgecrest cluster and the Mina/Coaldale cluster slightly suggest the Owens Valley is going to open up.

Historically there is a history of a lot of vulcanism in that valley...

(was that enough qualifiers?)

“USGS ignores him and his methods.”

I subscribe to Dutchsinse, he is entertaining and some of his predictions are correct. But, he and a handful of others play the panic card way too often.

It used to bug me too but I got used to it. Then I moved out and it stuck. But SoCal would have been more appropriate.

Yes Bob, USGS does ignore Duchsinse. He is more accurate and he does it for free.

Important to note that San Andreas fault ends North of Salton Sea and then another fault (name?) starts south of Salton Sea.
