Mealworms show promise as sustainable food source, scientists say

The yellow mealworm “shows great promise as an alternative source of animal protein,” according to a research article published Monday in the Journal of Insects as Food and Feed.

The world population hit 7.7 billion last year and is expected to reach 8.5 billion in 2030, according to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Researchers from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis and insect company Beta Hatch Inc. found that the mealworms, which have been considered a pest in the past, can be used as food for animals and humans, and that their waste makes a great organic fertilizer.

There is way more food produced on this planet each year Banh its population can eat. Most people that are starving I believe is due to their corrupt governments because we can send them Aid and we do but it goes right into their military forces and never to the people so let this dumbass scientist to use mealworms I’m not going to eat them

Cow, pig, lamb, chicken, venison, turkey, duck and a lot of other things come to mind before mealy worms. Mealy worms are for bait fishermen.

Is it "Eat a bug" Day again? About once every month or two we get told why we must eat bugs to save Mother Earth. If I wanted to eat a bug it would have to live its life in salt water (lobster, crab, shrimp). Some fresh water ones are OK too.

I have something that can process mealworms into a tasty, healthy, low-fat food product that almost everyone will love to eat.

I call it a "chicken".

When “they” finally shove this down our throats (literally) they’ll pretend like it was Okay with everyone all along.

Back in the 70’s some egghead decided to make flour from human feces. He sterilized it, baked some biscuits and admitted it tasted like crap but he also mentioned there’s plenty to go around.
