The ship Galena, which went ashore in the late gale, has returned to this city for repairs. The brig West Indian, which went to sea, wast lost at Pass a L'Outre, together with ten lives. Several lighthouses on the Mississippi Coast were blown down by the gale.

Sounds like. Many ships lost and lighthouses destroyed. Climate change has been a problem much longer than I suspected.

Fascinating bit on Page 2 about purported anti-slavery violence in Texas, now alleged to be false-flag pro-slavery violence intended to influence the presidential election.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

My family just got back from a visit to the South Carolina sea islands. The lighthouse on Hunting Island had to be relocated in the 1880s because the island was relocating itself, long before anyone could blame the situation on my van.

It is interesting to observe history repeating, or rhyming or whatever, but I hope we can head off in a different direction before the part about artillery and federal installations comes around.

There was also the bit about trying to calculate the crowd size at a political event based on the available area. Like, *literally* nothing changes!
One would like to avoid the involvement of artillery, though.
