Tell the CDC What You Think About Cruises Restarting
Cruise Fever ^ | September 19, 2020 | Ben Souza

Posted on 09/19/2020 10:45:05 AM PDT by Capt. Tom

You do you think cruise ships should be allowed to sail and cruises resume? You can currently get on a packed airline, stay in a hotel, visit Disney World and Six Flags, ride a subway, but cruises are still not allowed to sail.

The CDC is receiving comments from the general public for two more days on their website asking for public participation regarding the restart of cruises.

So far, just under 6,000 comments have submitted to the CDC pertaining to the planning/infrastructure and resumption of passenger operations.

The CDC has 28 different questions that you can respond to including:

How frequently should cruise ship operators test all passengers and crew? What steps should cruise ship operators take to prevent the introduction of COVID-19 onto ships after resuming passenger operations? Should cruise ship operators plan to reduce passenger and crew loads to decrease the risk of transmission on board the ship? Should the cruise line industry immediately cancel cruise voyages if COVID-19 cases are identified on board or after disembarkation? Should cruise ship operators limit shore excursions? The CDC is accepting comment until September 21, 2020.

This will be the first year we haven’t taken the 14 day first-class cruise to Hawaii because of Rona. All the other years it’s been because we couldn’t afford it.

Everybody should be free to do it, no problem. When I vacation, I’m going for solitude. I’m glad that a lot of people choose to be all crammed together living like pigs.

RBG passing had knocked the COVID (hoax) off the front page. I expect the lock down to end soon too. It’s all Ruthie all the time for here on in to Nov 3rd.

I went on a 4 year “pleasure” cruise on a FF while in the Navy. I’ve seen enough of the ocean.

I agree that cruises aren't everybody's cup of tea but the "petri dish" comments tend to come from those who have never been on a cruise. In fact, that Alaska poster stated up front that he/she had never been on one. So how would they know?

I've been on a number of them and never got sick once, except the one time I ate raw fish at midnight buffet (it smelled a little funny so that one is on me).

NOW !!!

Sorry, but the CDC will decide when you can go on a cruise.

The CDC has at least 6,000 opinions right now to go through, and the no sail order ends Sept,30 th .
, The CDC may have to extend the no sail order while they go through the opinions expressed by those who answered their questions and come up with a protocol the Cruise lines using American ports can choke on - or else. - Tom

Coffin ships—they should be allowed to sail but then not be allowed to stop at any ports.

I am fine with cruise lines reopening their tour business.

As for me personally, based on past experience and the recent “virus crisis” I would not do a cruise unless I got a an outer cabin where you can get the air directly from the ocean. And I would choose the least favorite hours for the buffets, as well as entertainment that was only outside on the decks. Though yes I would visit the casino - last time I won back 100% plus of what my daily charges were.

Neither have we.

I’ve eaten street food all over Asia in wet-markets, like the one in Wuhan where all this Covid19 nonsense started. I’m not afraid of the buffet on a Royal Caribbean ship.

Here we go with the “I ain’t riding on no petri dish” comments from those who can’t afford a luxury cruise and resent those who can.

I can well afford one. I can also afford a MB or BMW. But that doesn't mean I want one. Unlike a lot of people, I planned for my retirement and do better than 90-95 percent of the population.

I think you are overexplaining here.

I can afford a luxury cruise.

No way I'd go on one of those petri dishes.

Did it once... never again. YMMV.

I'd rather overexplain than underexplain. It's like towing. I'd rather have too much truck than not enough truck.

Haven’t been on a cruise in 30 years, but I paid for a Jamaica vacation over a year ago. This covid BS is so over the top, I don’t see any way I can go even next year. The last thing I want to do is get a fever and be quarantined in a foreign country for 3 weeks.

I’m not afraid of the buffet on a Royal Caribbean ship.

Last October on the Boston to Bermuda cruise the Serenade of the Seas had an excellent buffet.
We rarely went to the main dining room.-Tom

I’m with ya. I don’t even like to go to town (1500) people. No way I’m getting cooped up on a ship with 5000 others. That said I support cruise lines operating again. If people want to cruise it’s their free will. Free will, isn’t that a quaint idea?
