Have you ever heard of the show "Judging Amy" on CBS?

It was on from 1999 to 2005...

I never watched the show...

I thought of that show today because President nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to US Supreme Court...

I have heard of the show but I don’t know much about it. I thought that it was a decent show? I’ll have to look it up.

But I thought that it had good values.

I used to watch it. Had a leftist bent, but by today’s standards, it wasn’t too bad.

Well, it went on for a long time and was very popular.

Can’t tell about any political angle, though.

It was a CBS show. I loved The King of Queens and The Ghost Whisperer, so I might like this one. It was sounds like a family drama.

It was a slow paced show pitched to women who wanted to imagine themselves as a wise authority figure.

The trailer made me think of Judge Amy Berman...the train wreck.

Yes, I remember the TV Series.

Its main character is Amy Brenneman, a judge who serves in a family court for the Connecticut Superior Court’s Hartford district; in addition to the family-related cases that she adjudicates, many episodes focus on her experiences as a divorced mother and on the experiences of her mother, a social worker in the field of child welfare.

The life of this Judge Amy that Trump just nominated couldn’t be more different than the Judge Amy of that TV Series.

As I recall, her mother was played by Tyne Daly who got her start as a Dirty Harry sidekickl

I started to watch the show once, on a dare from a girlfriend, but I groaned and complained so much that I was excused early.

All McBeal (circa 1997) was on around the same time and got better reviews than Judging Amy which why a few people know of it. Calista Flockhart made news because she was anorexic skinny.

I used to watch it. I enjoyed it.

She had a big black bailiff who was GREAT (as an actor and a character).

I watched it when I was in high school (’01-’05), and it was only okay. I couldn’t give you plot details, but I remember not hating it.

Says a lot for an angsty teen.

I echo post 3.

Certainly the show had liberal values but this was before the era where every ep of a show like this would be SJW BS.

Tyne Daley played the mother, an annoying liberal social worker.

I did see a section of an episode, where they were re-crafting the law to work differently than it does so they could resolve a plot point in an outraged manner.

Yeah, Daly is irritating even in real life! In a way, sort of.

Playing a social worker was made for her, it sounds like.
