If there were ever a time when a tide changed direction in a single political moment, it was at the Trump set-up with Savannah Guthrie.
For about 45 minutes Guthrie just jumped all over The Donald for every response he made to her or to a questioner.
The first 15 minutes or more were nothing but cross-exams by Guthrie about masks, as if that were the most important question to ask the leader of the free world in the 60 minutes you have him in your arena, in your control.
Every person asking a question was described as a Biden-leaner, former Trump whatever. None of the questions was in the ballpark of "Mr. President, you built the world's best economy; how are you going to do it again?"
Even when a question was not entirely confrontational, Guthrie made the follow-up comment quite in-your-face.
SNIP Then something interesting happened. A woman with an innocent question — I believe she was a Trump-leaner — asked her already forgotten question. But her comment changed the entire energy of this one-sided event.
She looked at The Donald, now 45 minutes into being hectored at every comment, and said: "Mr. President, you have a beautiful smile."
Trump seemed genuinely stunned — in a good way. No quick rejoinder. He just seemed to look surprised, then smiled greatly, and thanked her.

I haven’t watched any video from the townhall event last night, but have read many comments posted about it. It sounds to me like President Trump handled himself extremely well, under the circumstances. He is truly an amazing man!
What fascinated me about this article was the fact that a supposed Biden-leaning audience broke into loud applause after this woman’s kind comment to the President. Very heartening, indeed!
Men aren’t typically used to getting compliments, and many compliments are directed to what they do, rather than who they are as a person. I’m sure it surprised Trump, but also probably made his day.

Trump should go on Howard Stern as well. Seriously. Trump would find a lot of common ground with Stern, talking about NYC. If Stern got stupid with his politics, Trump would totally kick his ass.
Savannah and George S. approaches in their questioning really revealed the animosity and contempt the media has for the president and how they try to manipulate outcomes. A comparison of both interviews would make a good class in showing the corruption and bias of the media.
I watched about 30-40 minutes of it, which was all I could take of that obnoxious b**** “moderator”. She was rude as hell in her first “questions”, then if the questions from the people weren’t hateful enough she’d interrupt and add in some hate.
I am really, really surprised Pres. Trump has not gone on Rogan’s show!!!
It was a wonderful moment and the world got to see the Trump we know and love.
I agree 100% about Rogan. NOT STERN. Stern has turned into one of those guys who, as they age, for some reason, go very ‘liberal’. My guess is that his wife has brain washed him. He changed markedly after marrying her. I can’t stand to listen to him any more, he seems like his emotions are like a snotty, know it all 16 year old girl who dies her hair purple and screams about ‘climate extinction’, how evil her parents are and Orange Man Racissss! Old Howie was very fun to listen to.....years ago.
So Guthrie asked 45 questions and the crowd asked 10. I thought this was a town hall?
