Unfortunately I feel like I need to go there. Can anyone offer advise on dealing this kind of thing?
Some details would be helpful.
It depends on what state you are in and what you did to get canned.
What state are you in?
I have experience here in Georgia.
Is this a federal agency?
Can I buy a vowel?
My personal observations have been that if the company doesn’t want a person then the person shouldn’t want the company.
The amount of pain it takes with the minimal relief provided appears it would be more productively put into locating another employer.
I don’t know your situation, but the situations that I have seen where this pay off is with pensions and/or where the benefits were extremely good and you wanted to get these extended while you look for a new employer.
Look for another job, while this is going to be processed. If the employer did not break any laws, even if his firing you was unfair, there may not be much you can do. This things could take months, so I wouldn’t put much faith in having it resolved quickly.
I have found that once you just accept the termination and move on you will find yourself in a much better place!! Things happen for a reason SND it is time for you to better yourself!!
I was justifiably fired in the mid 90s, but learned that the Colorado UO was heavily weighted on the employee’s side. So, in hindsight, I would say something mng like “I really enjoyed this job and would have loved to stay, however, I’m very frustrated by the lack of competent training that’s required to succeed in such a position. They’ve wasted their time, my time, and now the money and time of the Unemployment Office.”
I was wrongfully terminated from a job. I went to an attorney. He agreed 100 percent. But he said realistically i was wasting my money. The other side would keep filing motions to run me out of money. Now if you are “of color, “ no problem as the government pays and they would settle out of court.
Good post. Why want to work for a company that did you dirty? Although my bil got a 40k settlement for wrongful termination. He didnt have to go back.. But otoh. Its hard to leave a job for most people. Even if it sucked.
Why would you want to work for someone who doesn’t want you as an employee? Personally, I would never work for any company that required a drug test. I’ve never so much as smoked a cigarette, so why would I want to work for someone who thinks I’m a drug user? Find a company that would be glad to have you as an employee, then show them they’re lucky to have you.
I was terminated once in my life AND I ended up with the BEST job I had in my life, that job brought me to restaurant ownership and then to 3 restaurants!! The termination was the BEST thing that ever happened to me!!
Make sure you provide more detail when speaking to your lawyer.
most of the max settlements I have seen is reemployment assistance(job search), 3-6 months of income, extension of benefits, and a agreement to speak no ill of the other party.
I’ve seen that happen personally and to many others throughout my long career. I’ve taken to advise a person who has been laid off that a year from now there’s a better than even chance they will be very pleased that this happened to them ... very pleased indeed.
Hire a lawyer that does a lot of labor law. Employment law has a lot fo employee protections — and fiscal recourse as well.
