The Republicans of Seneca County turned out in vast numbers at Seneca Falls, on Wednesday. Some fifteen to twenty thousand were present. The stage was located in a grove on the south bank of Seneca River. It was festooned with evergreens, and on the arch was the inscription -- "Welcome SEWARD, Defender of Civil and Religious Liberty." A large number of Irish and German citizens and several of the Catholic clergy were seen in the crowd. Mr. SEWARD spoke about an hour and a half. He was followed by Rev. B. IVES, of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In the evening there was a very general illumination of the town, and the Wide-Awakes made a magnificent display. Large delegations were present from Auburn and other places. FELLOW-CITIZENS: A crisis in individual life is when a man either passes safely through some perilous accident, or surmounts some apprehended mortal disease; or, on the other hand, falls before that danger or succumbs to that disease and dies. A political crisis is a period in which a nation surmounts some national disease or avoids some national peril and takes new assurance of long life, or, failing to surmount or avoid, suddenly or slowly languishes and dies. Politicians, perhaps, abasing themselves through the influence of interest and passion, tell us very often that the town in which we live, or the State to which we belong, or the country of which we are members, is in a crisis -- misjudging, because crises occur but seldom even in the course of individual life, and really at very distant periods in the life of a nation. On all hands, however, there is an agreement that this Republic of ours is now in a crisis, and I confess, as I believe, it to be true.
