I’m addressing the general topic of censorship, specifically YouTube censorship. I’ve done a couple of tests today and it did not turn out as expected.
Prager says many of his videos are not shown on YouTube. But I checked two that he said were not available, and they are available.
Gateway Pundit says that the opening statement of Trump’s lawyer, Jesse Binnall, before the US Senate has been removed by YouTube. However I can find it on YouTube.
Maybe conservatives have been too quick to criticize before getting the facts. Maybe YouTube is suddenly cleaning up it’s act because we are making accusations. Does anybody know what is going on here?
I was responding to some liberal jerk and was about to egg on my face over this. So trust, but verify before you post.
Really?
Do you really believe the company that has conspired with Obama to harm President Trump’s election chances by full-on censorship of conservative authors and content would fold that easy?
It may not be censoring as much as it is Youtube’s awkward search results.
Finding anything on Youtube can be an effort in futility — which is surprising since their owners run the biggest internet search engine.
Their web/streaming app interface needs a lot of work.
I sent an email to my list of a video of Rudy going through the numbers. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but he asked how can a state send out 700,000 mail-in ballots and get 1,200,000 back. He had similar statistics about the other state counts, too. I started getting emails back saying that YouTube had pulled the video. Sure enough, they had.
I no longer use Google for anything, preferring DuckDuckGo for searches, Vimeo for videos, and would NEVER have any Google device in my house listening to my every word if they choose to do so.
I remember reading that they had relaxed their censorship after the election was over.
I’m telling you what I saw today.
I have trouble finding videos on YT.
If I have the exact Title of the video, generally I can find it. But other day, I had one by Greg Kelly and couldn’t find it even with exact title which was lengthy.
I think there is a secret to finding videos
I’ll accept that as evidence of past censorship by YouTube. Thanks.
I had a YouTube link to a Jesse Binnall’s video a few days ago. Went to re-listen yesterday to it and it was gone.
My understanding is, it’s not that you can’t actively search for the videos and watch them, but that they won’t show up as suggestions of things to watch on your front page when you pull up youtube.com based on your previous searches/watches. It’s called ‘shadowbanning’.
If you’re not aware there are such videos, and you’re not actively looking for things like ‘election rigged’, you’ll never see a video about it even though there’s 10,000 of them on YouTube.
“I remember reading that they had relaxed their censorship after the election was over.”
That would explain it. Of course, after the left cements their power, YouTube might increase its censorship ten fold.
I’m not saying YouTube censorship is not a problem. I’m saying I’m not seeing it today 12/22/2020. Maybe they are “gaslighting” people.
I am no expert, but believe that they have levels of censorship. One is removing a particular video from the suggested videos in your feed. This would explain why you can still find it through a search, but it isn’t getting promoted to others unless they go searching for it. The other is to de-monetize a video. Not removed, but the creator gets no revenue for ads.
It's been alleged that DuckDuckGo is selling data back to Google.
“It’s called ‘shadowbanning’.”
I saw this years ago with ABC News. Someone here posted an article from ABCNews.com. It was about Clinton molesting Kathleen Willey. I said “Wow, ABC is reporting this.”
Then I decided to double-check. After all, it should be possible to copy an ABC logo and fake a webpage. I went to ABC’s website for about a half hour on two occasions but could not find the article. That made me skeptical of the original post.
Then I went to ABC news and did a search on “Kathleen Willey”, and presto, the article came up. Yes ABC reported it. No, no one would ever find it. The only way anyone could find this is if someone like FR pointed it out.
I think Karoo is correct. I have looked for various videos on YouTube in the past year, and been unable to find them.
However, I have older links to the videos, and when I click on them-voila! Up comes the YouTube video.
This makes me think they use one of the simplest forms of censorship of things they don’t like. They don’t censor it or delete it.
They simply make it hard to find. Unless you “ask the question” in just the right way...you cannot find it.
Google is straight up evil scum. Straight up.
How about the ELECTION FRAUD videos that YT removed?
I have found many censored videos coming back available in the last day or two. The damage has already been done. The censorship did what it needed to do. All past tense now -— no need to risk anything further from the FCC by continuing to hide it now.
I would say that almost 100% of internet sites censor the content of their sites when those sites allow input from individuals, including FR so that while I hate Google/YT, I do not understand the outrage of YT or any other site censoring anything.
Today, I can see his testimony to the Senate on YouTube. My YT search was “Jesse Binnall.” Try that. If it does not work for you, or anyone else, but works for me, that would be curious indeed.
