Most people on the political Left are not “Nationalist” anything. They are welfare Capitalists or Socialists, but their aims are always global. You hear people like David Brooks and George Will use teems like “Blood and Soil” to characterize any type of nationalist sentiment as “tribalism”. The essence of modern Leftism is a World Order where the current U.S. status quo is imposed upon the globe. You even see some people on the political Right buying into it. I mean if America is “The Last Best Hope” and “The Shining City on a Hill”, then logically the noblest political goal is to make the world America.

The Nazis and the Communists are two gangs of thugs fighting over turf.

The funny thing is, Stalin really was a National Socialist himself, he advocated “Socialism in One Country” as opposed to Trotsky’s Internationalism. He used Communism to advance the very same Imperial goals of the Czars. He was a Russian Nationalist, who admired Aleksander Nevsky, and his role model, Ivan the Terrible. He ordered the “Russification” of the Soviet Union, ethnically cleansed many communities and replaced them with ethnic Russians.

I dislike the linear definition of politics. I subscribe to the clock method where communism is 1100 and fascism is 0100. That is how close together they are.
I will use national and international socialist in future conversations. I like that.
